WBL Experience

Work Based Learning is a class available for students to take at Claiborne High School

that allows for many wonderful opportunities. Personally, this program has taught me a lot of

real world life lessons and skills needed for my future career. I’ve learned so much throughout

my work based learning experience. I shadowed CO’s at the Claiborne County Justice Center.

Watching them do their jobs allowed me to learn more about a typical work environment. I got to

experience how to file papers and I even learned a little bit about how to work excel. The goals

and expectations were beyond met through this experience. I got to practice responsibility and

learn how to properly manage my time. At the beginning of the class I stated that I wanted to

properly learn how to make a self lead schedule so that I had to stick with the schedule and learn

how to be more organized. The work based learning class definitely challenged the on time task

and my daily self made schedule because of softball games and practice after school. My goal

now is to take the things I've learned and use them in my near future when I get a job after high

school. Getting a job this summer will now be easier and I will be able to manage my time with

family and friends as well as the other things that I will do in my personal time all because of

work based learning.
