FCU stude journalists prevail in DSPC

Take a deep breath, pen in hand, write!

Filamer Christian University (FCU) student journalists prevailed, hailing the school as the overall
champion for the 5th time in the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held at Don Ynocencio del
Rosario National High School, September 19 to 20, 2019.

Clinching the pen anew, 45 out of the 48 individual student writers from FCU bagged wins, while all
representatives under the six available group categories clinched ranks.

“It feels so surreal. Winning gold in DSPC is such an honor,” expressed Joshua Quitoy, a competitor for
the english feature writing category.

The FCU journalists underwent rigorous training, being guided by Jose Erwin Borbon, Jessica Cagay, Roli
Keith Aguirre, and Friah Estores.

“[And] being the coach of these amazing young journalists, I can’t help but be proud with what they
have accomplished here today,” said Borbon.

The FCU representatives would go on to compete and represent Roxas City in the Regional Schools Press
Conference (RSPC), at Iloilo National Highschool.

Furthermore, FCU allocated a budget for the journalists, aiding them during their training period.

Almost 3,000 students stemming from various schools within the locality participated in the annual
competition.
