I. HAZARD PROFILE

On May 7, 2015, the typhoon east of Visayas entered the Philippine Area of
Responsibility (PAR) and was named “DODONG” with maximum sustained winds
of 130kph and gustiness of up to 160kph.

Typhoon “DODONG” was located at 510km East of Sorsogon City, intensified


to 160kph maximum sustained winds and gustiness of 195kph and accelerated
West Northwest at 22kph on May 8, 2015.

Typhoon “DODONG” was at 210km Northwest of Virac, Catanduanes on May


9, 2015 with strength of 160kph near the center and gustiness of up to 195kph.
Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) Number 3 was raised over Isabela, Cagayan
and northern Aurora. At 10:00PM, it intensified further to 165kph and gustiness of
200kph moving Northwest at 18kph

On May 10, 2015, TY “DODONG” further intensified with maximum sustained


winds of 185kph and gustiness of up to 220kph. PSWS Number 4 was raised over
Northern Cagayan, Batanes, Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands. It made
landfall over Pananapan Point, Sta Ana, Cagayan at 4:45PM. At 10:00PM, TY
“DODONG” has weakened to 160kph and gustiness of 195kph. Areas previously
under PSWD Number 4 were lowered to PSWS Number 3.

TY “DODONG” weakened further on May 11, 2015 as it moved in a Northwest


direction with maximum sustained winds of 110kph and gustiness of up to 140kph
and accelerated Northeast at 35kph. All Public Storm Warning Signals were
lowered.

TY “DODONG” exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 12, 2015 at


5:00AM.

ll. WATER LEVEL
 Magat Dam water level did not reach the spilling level of 193 meters at the time
Typhoon “DODONG” was in AOR.

III. ROAD CONDITION


Daang-Maharlika in the Region was passable to all types of vehicles at the time
Typhoon “DODONG” was in AOR.

IV. LIFELINES
 Water and communication lines were all functional / operational at the time
Typhoon “DODONG” was in AOR.

There were a total of 3, 352 families/12,696 persons affected in the
provinces of Cagayan, Batanes and Isabela.

There were a total of 1,288 partially and 56 totally damaged houses
reported in the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela.
(Please see details in TAB “B”)

E. Damage to Crops (Source: DA RO2)


A total of Php2,707,200.00 damage on palay and corn crops was
initially reported in the Northern Part of Cagayan (Please see details
in TAB “C”)

F. Damage to Fisheries (Source: DA-BFAR RO2)


A total of Php2,184,785.71 damage to fisheries were reported in the
province of Cagayan, Isabela and Batanes.(Please see details in
TAB “D”)

VI. COST OF ASSISTANCE EXTENDED (Source: DSWD FO2)


A total of 1,660 family food packs amounting to Php581,000.00 was
extended by DSWD FO2 in the province of Cagayan and Isabela.
(Please see details in TAB “E”)

VII. ASSESSMENT
The RDANA Team observed no significant damages incurred in the Province of
Cagayan.

VIII. WAY FORWARD


 Conduct in-depth assessment of the effects of Typhoon “DODONG” in the
Region to determine the priority needs for rehabilitation and recovery.
 Cascading/Roll-out of the National Disaster Response Plan for Hydro-
Meteorological Hazards in the Region.
