A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE FORMULATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF

BARANGAY PULO DISASTER CONTINGENCY PLAN

WHEREAS, Republic Act 7160, otherwise known as Local Government Code of 1991, mandates Local
Government Units including barangay to promote health and safety, maintain peace and order,
preserve the comfort and convenience of the inhabitants being the front runner of delivering basic
services to the grassroots;

WHEREAS, Republic Act 10121, otherwise known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Act of 2010, mandates the formulation and its implementation of a comprehensive and
integrated barangay disaster risk reduction and management plan in accordance with the framework
as prescribed under;

WHEREAS, under Section 12 of Republic Act 10121, it is the function of the Local Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council to manage the adverse effects of any disaster, to take the lead in
preparing for, responding to and recovering from the adverse effects of any disaster to strengthen its
capacity towards mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery to reduce risks to human life and
assets, and to build disaster resilient communities;

WHEREAS, through the Barangay Disaster Contingency Plan, we can now direct our actions,
programs and projects toward an effective, doable, and systematic contingency preparation and
responsive capability for any disastrous eventuality;

WHEREAS, in recognizing the possible occurrence of natural hazards and acknowledging the need
to prepare for worst-case science-based scenarios, the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and
Management Council conceptualized and formulated the Barangay Contingency Plan in consultation
with experts from Valenzuela City Disaster Risk and Management Office, stakeholders and members
of the community;

NOW THEREFORE, premises considered, BE IT RESOLVED, AS IT HEREBY RESOLVED, to

adopt the formulation and implementation of Barangay Pulo Disaster Contingency Plan.

RESOLVED FURTHER, that copies of this resolution be furnished to the Office of the Mayor, the
Office of Vice Mayor, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) – Valenzuela, the
Liga ng mga Barangay, Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Office
of Civil Defense and other interested for their information, guidelines and reference.
