What is OBE?
OBE stands for Outcome-Based Education. It is an educational approach that places emphasis on
clearly articulated learning outcomes. In OBE, the focus is on what students are expected to know
and be able to do by the end of a course or program. OBE emphasizes the importance of measurable
and observable learning outcomes, authentic assessment, and a student-centered approach to
learning. The ultimate goal of OBE is to prepare students for success in the real world by providing
them with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes they need to thrive in their lives and careers.
Four Principles of OBE
1. CLARITY OF FOCUS - Have a clear focus on the topic being taught and align with
performance standards.
2. DESIGNING BACKWARD - Start with desired learning outcomes and design backwards
to develop a learning program.
3. EXPANDED OPPORTUNITY - Use a variety of learning strategies and approaches to
support the learning program.
4. HIGH EXPECTATION - Set high expectations and provide support to meet them,
including remediation and enrichment opportunities.

What is PERFORMANCE STANDARD?

PERFORMANCE STANDARD are concrete statements of how well students must learn, what is set
out in the content standards, often called the “be able to do” of “what students should know be able
to do”. Performance Standards specify “HOW GOOD IS GOOD ENOUGH”. They are the indicators of
quality.
What is LEARNING PROGRAM?
A LEARNING PROGRAM provides the trainer/assessor with information about the competencies
being delivered, a profile of the learners and their needs and suggestions for the assessment
strategy. So, from this, the trainer/assessor can develop the delivery plan and session plan.
2E-2A Model of Instruction
ENGAGE > EXPLORE > APPLY > ASSESS
1. Engage (input phase) - Provide context and input to engage learners
2. Explore – Allow learners to process specific inputs through interactive activities
3. Apply (application task)- Encourage creative application of inputs and activities
4. Assess ( conducting assessment)- Conduct assessments using elevated methods

Understanding Digital Media

1. Media: one-way process
2. Multimedia: combination of 2+ media (sound, video, music)
3. Digital Media: enables new forms of interaction (e.g. Facebook, Twitter)
4. Digital Media Software: uses multimedia elements (e.g. video editing)
5. Interactive Digital Media: user input-driven (e.g. games)
The world of digital media has revolutionized the way we interact with technology and has
provided us with a whole new level of communication and creativity. In understanding digital
media, it is important to differentiate between media, multimedia, and digital media. Digital media
software allows users to create and manipulate multimedia elements like videos, music, and
sounds. Interactive digital media takes it a step further by enabling users to interact with programs
through input.
