Tourism- is a social, cultural and economic Phenomenon-entails the movement of

people(visitors) to places.

Reason to travel- personal-business/professional purposes

2 types of visitors

=tourist- 1day or 2 nights

=excursionist=day tour

residents or non-residents

Tourism expenditure- money involve

Domestic Tourism- tourism involving residents of one country traveling within their own
country. Traveling our own country.

Domestic Tourist= who travel within their own country.

The motivation for travel

Why do people travel?

-The need to escape or change

-travel for education=search for knowledge and truth.

-Need for social contact- need contact and communication with others.

-Cultural Experience- experiencing how other people live= apo whang-od- last and oldest

-Status and prestige- ego or self-enhancement.

International Tourism

= is the act of travelling to another country other than where you live for no more than one year
for purposes of leisure or business.

Domestic- travelling within your own country

International- travelling to another country.

Domestic tourism

-less expensive

-no need for passports and visas

-raises national consciousness

-minimal to no language barrier

International Tourism

-more expensive

-requires passports and visas

-might encounter cultural adjustment and language barrier.
