Shared Leadership Initiative

Objective Measurable Criteria

The non-administrator leadership position I chose is a grade level lead position. I would

assess applicants by measuring their effectiveness based on previous observations conducted by

administration. This will show how well they understand teaching content and teaching

strategies, as well as their commitment to the school community. I would also measure how long

they have been teaching, based on their years of service.

Leadership

I would ensure applicants’ commitment to positive school culture, including staff morale,

shared leadership, collaboration, trust, and how a student-centered environment is supported by

looking at previous observations. In our district’s observations, administration is required to rank

teachers on their commitment to the school community. This is based on extra work they out into

the school. I would also conduct my own observations to see how students respond to the

applicants. Lastly, I would conduct perception surveys in which the staff is able to express their

opinion on the school’s community and how it could be improved.

Team/Group Dynamics

In the selection process, I would make my decisions based on both the data collected, and

instinct based on how I see that the applicants interact with staff, students, and families. Their

interactions would be very telling because they would show how respectful, loyal, trustworthy,

hardworking, and collaborative they are on their day-today. I would also pay special attention to

the responses to the perception surveys and see what ideas they come up with to improve the

school community.
