LESSON PLAN in Environmental Science (Grade 8)

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the Lesson, 85% of the student will be able to:

 Describe Biodiversity
 Explain the concept of a species.
 Appreciate the importance of biodiversity by making a slogan on how to
protect biodiversity.
Value: Being able to know the Importance and Variety of species as manifestation of
Execellence.
II. SUBJECT MATTER - Biodiversity
Reference: Breaking Through Science (Grade 8) by Sol Saranay M. Baguio,
Corazon N. Felicerta, Susan D. Manosa, Celeste Joan C. Santisteban-Cook
Materials: Pictures, Pentel Pens, video clips, Laptop,DLP
Teaching Strategy: Demonstration

LESSON PROPER
DAILY ROUTINE: Prayer, checking of attendance, and alignment of chairs.
Learning experiences:

INTRODUCTION
A. Activating Prior Knowledge
To begin the Lesson let just have an activity. students have work as a group and They’re
going to list all of the species of organisms they ever heard in the video. It will only give
2 minutes to do this. Watch the video carefully and list them all. The point of this
introductory activity is to show them that the biodiversity of our planet is immense. They
can possibly name all the organisms they’ve heard of.
B. Essential Question:
1. What is Biodiversity?
2. Why do we need to protect our Biodiversity?
C. Revealing of subject matter:
The teacher will reveal the topic About BIODIVERSITY
D. Presentation of Objectives:
The teacher will present the Objective before introducing the topic

III. PROCESS

STUDENTS-STUDENTS

 The students will be working as a group


 Each student must have assigned task in a group.
 Students will be given a chance to share in the class their answer

STUDENT- MATERIALS

 Students will watch the video clip provided about Biodiversity.


 In a group student are task to write down the species involve and important details
in the video.
 1 video clip will be presented.
STUDENT-TEACHER

 The teacher will introduce the type of activity and the instruction.
 The teacher will supervise the students and act as a facilitator.
 The teacher will further discuss the biodiversity, concept of species and also the
importance of Biodiversity.

3. What are the current threats to Biodiversity?
4. How does Climate change impact Biodiversity?
5. What is the most important concept of species?
6. How do the concepts of species differ from one another?

IV. EVALUATION
Type of Assessment Slogan

Slogan Making:

Direction: Make a slogan showing on how to protect biodiversity and use the
rubrics below as your guide in accomplishing this task.

Mechanics:

 The group will bring their own art (colorings) materials.


 It will be given 15 mins. To finish the output.
 Slogan should have 7-11 words only.
 Theme is all about Protecting Biodiversity.

 ¼ illustration board
 Any medium of color (water color, oil pastel, acrylic, crayons, etc).
 Pencil Marker/ Pentel pen
V. ASSIGNMENT

Write a reflection in conserving Biodiversity and put Intext citation to support


your answer. You may write your answers on a clean sheet of paper or type them
on a word processor.
