Upon my introduction to poetry, unlike other literary forms, I was quite drawn to its unique

style, rhymes, rhythms, and metrical arrangements because it was in a way creative, artistic and
purposeful. As a lover of works in the age of the Medieval Period and a reader of high fantasy novels, I
inevitably encountered several poems in the books that I read. Although admittedly, sometimes in the
past I get perplexed with the real meaning behind the obscurity between the lines and phrases, it was
still at certain times fun to dive into the depths of the author’s feelings and thoughts through analyzing a
certain poem. Exercising much of the human mind to understand the essence and content of the poem.

Personally, I find poetry entertaining and at the same time full of significance because its
materials can be found in many subjects that interest the human mind. Confessedly, despite my positive
interest in poetry, I barely have the skills to be involved with such a complex field of literature. Hence, I
really admire great poets who have the talent to create such wonderful and meaningful works of art.
Although I do aspire to improve my writing skills and develop my creative writing in composing poems.

Thus, subjectively, I have a high regard for poetry. For me poems are not only pieces of writing,
but works of art full of significance, sentiments, and thoughts of the author towards different subjects.
And relays these ideas to the reader of the poem which will then be influenced by the message of the
poem. Therefore, for me, from my first impression until now, I still view poetry as a literary work of
great importance.
