1) What are some of the biotic factors of an ecosystem?

2) What are some abiotic factors in an ecosystem?

3) What is a climate?
4) What is a biome?
5) What is the difference between tundra and taiga?
6) What is the difference between grasslands and temperate forests?

1. Biotic factors of an ecosystem can be animals such as: Monkeys, capybaras, wolves, and/or
dogs; plants, like marihuana, coca, potus, and/or Rafflesia arnoldii; microorganisms, for
example: plankton, lyssa virus, the brain eating amoeba, and/or bacteriophages.

2. Abiotic factors of an ecosystem can be air, salinity of water, soil, temperature, light, pH,
minerals, and/or humidity.

3. The climate of a territory is the average temperature in that zone, that varies according to
altitude, distance to the equator and to the sea. For example, Tierra del Fuego is colder
than Chaco because is further away from the Equator than Chaco.
4. A biome is defined by the plants and animals that live there. The climates, flora, and fauna
that can be found in a particular section of the planet make up a biome. There are
different types of biomes, such as aquatic, grassland, forest, desert, and tundra.

5. The taiga and tundra are the most visibly differing landscapes because of the abundance of
trees in the taiga and lack thereof in the tundra. The climate in the tundra is too cold and
dry for there to be any trees, but there is also the presence of permanent frost in that
area. Pine and spruce trees are some of the most common in the taiga.
While there are some differences in certain animals between taiga and tundra, both
biomes are home to mammals and birds. Bears, foxes, rabbits, wolves, deer, and bears are
some of the animals that make their home in the taiga, while reindeer and elk only can be
found in the tundra. Each of these biomes is home to a different species of birds as well as
polar and grizzly bears.

6. In grasslands, vegetation, like grass, is very short, soft, juicy, and nutritive. It has treeless
plants as there is less precipitation, but soil is very fertile. This is because all the flora and
fauna are used to not having much water, but this limits a lot the species that inhabit this
biome. Also, most species have incorporated mechanisms to defend themselves to the hot
temperature, like trees, who can regrow from their roots after being catch on fire.
Instead, the climate of a temperate forest is highly variable depending on the location of
the forest. Typically, they have winters that often reach below freezing and, because of
this, many places leaves are unable to function for long periods and are susceptible to
damage from freezing. These conditions reduce the photosynthetic activity of the trees.
