RULES AND REGULATIONS

SCRABBLE NEC-IONAIRE 2022

PREFACE

The NEC-IONAIRE 2022 Scrabble Competition is a place for high school students
or college students who want to improve their thinking, creativity, and memory. This
Scrabble game will be divided into three rounds, namely the preliminary round, the semi-
final round and the final round. This Scrabble competition will be played by 2 teams, where 1
team consists of 2 people.

PURPOSES

The purpose of this competition is to foster interest in English and test students' vocabulary
skills and teach that English is easy to learn through games.

PARTICIPANTS

1. High School : Each team consists of 2 players.

2. University Students (S1/D3) : Each team consists of 2 players.

note: each institution may only send 2 teams of players.Notes:

1. Open Registration

Batch 1 : 21 November 2022 – 25 November 2022

Batch 2 : 26 November 2022 – 3 December 2022


2. Technical Meeting : 7 Desember 2022 (Melalui Zoom)

3. Competition : Minggu, 11 Desember 2022

4. Announcement : 11 December 2022


REGISTRATION PROCESS

1. Participants must be registered as SMA/SMK/MA students (to be verified).


2. Participants must be registered as active students (to be verified).
3. Participants must fill out a registration form which can be accessed via the link
provided by the committee.
4. For registrants who register through the contact person, the registrant can request
a registration link to the contact person.
5. Participants send payments and ensure the correct amount via:

 Fee for Batch 1 registrants: IDR 50,000/team
 Batch 2 registration team fee: IDR 55,000/team

6. Deadline for registration December 3, 2022.
7. The committee does not serve and is not responsible for participants who do not
follow the terms and conditions of the competition.

PRIZES FOR WINNERS

1. 1st Place gets a Certificate, Trophy, and coaching money of Rp. 350,000
2. 2nd Place gets a Certificate, Trophy, and coaching money of Rp. 250,000
3. 3rd place gets a Certificate, Trophy, and coaching money of Rp. 150,000

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE COMPETITION

1. Participants from high school or university students in Bengkulu regional area.


I. Participants have filled out the registration form via the Gform link.
2. Must Follow Instagram @projectbarbel and @excellent_projectxxii
3. Participants are prohibited from polluting the race area and making noise in the race
area.
4. Participants are required to comply with all jury policies.
5. Participants are required to come to the match at least 30 minutes before the start of
the match to attend a briefing from the jury, if you don't attend then you will be
deemed to have agreed.
6. Participants are prohibited from cheating in the competition.

Dresscode : Uniforms in accordance with the characteristics of each school or university.

TOURNAMENT RULES AND CONDITIONS;

1. Team Game;
2. Using CSW19 (Collins Scrabble Dictionary) as a word guide--every word in
this dictionary can be placed on the board;
3. There will be a committee that will help you calculate your score and manage
your time;
4. Each round consists of 30 minutes, with a maximum of 1 minute of thinking
time for each player. There will be no minimum or maximum time for
thinking, use your time wisely and as efficiently as possible;
5. Time for the final round consists of 30 minutes, with consideration of a
maximum time of 1 minute for each player. There will be no minimum or
maximum time for thinking, use your time wisely and as efficiently as
possible;
6. Every Bingo! (laying all the tiles on the board) will get additional 50 points;
7. Each player takes one tile in the bag, the tile closest to "A" will be the first to
be played;
8. Words can be horizontal or vertical;
9. Any repeated words may not be placed on the blackboard.
10. If the player cannot form a word, he can say “Pass” to the organizers, this will
give the player 0 points;
11. The pass is only allowed 3 times in a row;
12. If any player says pass 3 times in a row, the game will end and the remaining
tile score will be deducted for each player. In addition, that player will get an
additional -20 points;
13. Swapping is allowed, each player can swap his tiles up to 7;
14. The exchange is considered pass;
15. For challenges, if the challenge is successful then the challenger will get +10
points and the word needs to be retracted (no minus for players, but considered
as a pass). Meanwhile, if the challenge is not successful, the challenger will
get -10 points (no additional points for players);
16. It is allowed to add only one letter to a word that is already on the blackboard,
for example: SCHOOL  SCHOOLS, NEW  NEWT, NOW  SNOW;
17. Scoring is based on the International Scrabble Scoring System;
18. If all the tiles in the bag run out and there are no tiles left in any of the players,
the game is over. The opponent's tile score will be added to that player, and
the other player's score will be subtracted from his own tile score.
