In addition to these six subject groups, the IB Core includes:

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

A course designed to encourage critical thinking and reflection on knowledge itself


Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

A program designed to encourage students to engage in creative, physical, and


service-oriented activities outside of the classroom
Extended Essay (EE)

A research paper on a topic of the student's choice, designed to develop


independent research skills.
To earn the full IB Diploma, students must take one course from each of the six
subject groups, complete the three components of the Core (TOK, CAS, and EE), and
meet certain requirements for their overall scores.
