MAJOR ISSUES IN PAKISTAN’S ECONOMY

BUDGETING PROJECT- PART 4

4.0 INTRODUCTION
Education, health, and poverty nexus has been extensively debated by academicians, policy makers and
civil society. Where Pakistan has recorded impressive, albeit volatile, growth the development side has
usually have been ignored and not failed to reflect the remarkable progress.

Given the importance of this sector and Pakistan’s inadequate performance on this front, this part of the
project lets you allocate budget to the social sectors. Make sure you are clear that education and health
is now a provincial subject. Additionally, there are primary, secondary, and tertiary levels of education
and health investment.

These subjects at provincial level would also touch upon numerous local level issues like birth
registration, garbage collection, parks & recreation, link road infrastructure. This is a complex issue and
needs in-depth study of various articles, newspapers, and reports. Hence, make sure you do your
research well and come up with solid justifications and division of finances.

4.1 EDUCATION, HEALTH, AND POVERTY NEXUS

Growth and development have far-reaching implications on poverty level. You may also want to design a
new program or continue the existing poverty alleviation program of the government. The decision
needs to be justified and the program needs to be spelled out. Reviewing the regional and income
inequalities information and research articles could come in handy for this subsection of the project.
