This document provides instructions for a project to analyze the transient stability of grid-feeding inverters. The tasks include establishing a second-order dynamic model of a grid-feeding inverter considering only the phase-locked loop transient and understanding how damping and inertia impact stability. A second task is to synthesize a Lyapunov function to analyze transient stability theoretically and verify it using a Simulink model. The document provides background on grid-following inverter control strategies and simplifying models for transient stability analysis.

Title name : Transit stability analysis of gird feeding(grid following) inverter
This is detailed assignment to cover this three tasks and targets
Pay attention: At first, only PLL is considered for the transient stability of grid-following inverters.
Learn background knowledge:
1. Read the reference, and learn the control strategy of grid-following inverters. 2. Run the simplified model of a grid-following inverter, and understand why the model can be simplified for transient stability analysis.
Core tasks of the project
1. By analogy with synchronous generators, establish a second-order dynamic model of grid-feeding (also called as grid-following) inverters only considering the transient of the phase-locked loop (PLL). (1) Deduce the damping, inertia, equivalent mechanical power, and output power of the grid-following inverter. (2) Understand the impact of damping, inertia on the transient stability. (3) Tune the parameters (such as grid equivalent inductance, PI parameters of PLL, voltage dip during fault, and so on) of the simulink model, and observe the dynamic characteristics of the system. 2. Synthesize a Lyapunov function for a grid-feeding inverter, and analyze the transient stability of grid-feeding inverters using the Lyapunov’s direct method. (You can refer to [1]) (1) Synthesize a Lyapunov function. (2) Plot the stability region using the Lyapunov function, and analyze the transient stability theoretically. (3) Run the simulink model, and then verify the transient stability.
