    Discussion Board Activity 2

    Scenario: Mike, a five-year old child, punched Johnny on his cheek. How will you deal with this?

    Mike and Johnny as a nurse assigned in their unit?

    In this situation, I would grab Mike and gently pull him away from Johnny to prevent another punch or
    strike from being thrown. To keep Mike down while I attend to the wounded Johnny, I would ask for
    assistance from other nurses or the parents of the kids. Once I've attended to Johnny, I'll turn my
    attention to Mike and let him talk or tell me why he punched Johnny. I would then give him a lecture on
    why hitting other people is wrong at a certain point. I wouldn't punish him, but try to get across to him
    that hurting people is the same as hurting the people we care about.
