ENVIRONMENTAL CRISIS
Environmental crises are characterized by an accelerated loss of
biodiversity as a consequence of the mass extinction of species, a
widespread destruction of habitats, and a negative impact on the conditions
for the regeneration of natural resources. That is why, in order to avoid
environmental crises, the world's governments must encourage sustainable
development policies. We suffer today on a global scale can be recognized
in the extinction of thousands of species each year, the depletion and
degradation of natural resources, global warming, the destruction of the
ozone layer, the increase in rainfall, hurricanes and cyclones in some
regions, as well as the exacerbation of droughts in others. All this without
counting environmental accidents due to direct human negligence, such as
oil spills in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico or the accidents at the
Chernobyl or Fukushima nuclear plants.
2) DEFORESTATION:
It is true that farmers must make use of such products to protect fruit and
vegetable crops. However, they are highly polluting and affect the quality of
soil and water. This situation is also aggravated by population growth and
the need to produce more food. Industrial activities produce a large amount
of toxic waste for the environment such as gases, chemicals, solvents,
among others. Many are expelled directly and illegally into the water or air,
contaminating them and causing great environmental damage.
4) INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
The increase in temperature on Earth causes the polar caps to melt and the
disappearance of various species typical of these highly vulnerable areas.
Also, as we have been observing lately, our country was having too high a
temperature that the heat was unbearable.
Animals like polar bears are in danger of extinction due to the high
temperatures that affect the North Pole and contribute to the melting of the
ice, reducing the space where they live.
Forests and tropical areas have been deforested to obtain wood or palm oil,
widely used to make various products for human consumption.
WHAT IS THE IMPACT OF THE CLOTHING WE WEAR?.
Today textile production is responsible for 20% of drinking water pollution. Many
chemicals used in textile manufacturing are harmful to the environment, factory
workers, and consumers. From the EPRS they indicate that the dyes and other
products used are responsible for, approximately Regarding water, we find water
consumption and water contamination. 40% of the fashion industry is made with
cotton and the rest with polyester. Cotton is a thirsty crop, that is, the consumption of
water is gigantic. Only in the production of a cotton pole about a thousand liters of
water. But between 40% and 60% of the water consumption of a garment occurs in the
user's use phase, not in production. If we wanted to significantly reduce the water
consumption of the fashion industry, what we should do is wash less clothes. On the
other hand, water contamination is a very serious problem, due to the dyes that are
used, and obviously it is very focused on the production part. On the issue of
emissions, a garment can go around the world, just in the production process. We
believe that buying clothes online is more eco-friendly, but what it does is pressure
brands to be faster, so you have to send the clothes by plane, where emissions are
much higher than by boat
What is textile waste and how to reduce it?
Textile waste is the excesses and leftovers of all textile productions. They
may contain paints, chemicals, and other toxins that, if not disposed of
properly, cause damage to the environment. The problem lies in the
constant increase in demand. Although this is an important factor for the
development of the textile sector, it is necessary to know how to balance
the accelerated evolution with environmental responsibility. The first is,
without a doubt, recycling. It is possible to carry out this process with the
help of companies that use waste from the sector for other purposes, or
donations to NGOs. These entities often use it to sell or manufacture new
parts.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF SOCIETY BEFORE THIS?
