Teacher: DYREL M. BANGCAYA Learning Area: Mathematics 8
Date and Time: May 2, 2023; 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m. & 2:00-3:00 p.m. Quarter: 4th

A. Content Standard:
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of inequalities in a triangle,
and parallel and perpendicular lines.

Performance Standard:
The learner is able to communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and clarity in
formulating, investigating, analyzing, and solving real-life problems involving triangle
inequalities, and parallelism and perpendicularity of lines using appropriate and
accurate representations.

What are the theorems do we have to prove qualities in triangles?

C. Activities

Activity 1
Before we proceed to our next topic, let us do the first activity entitled “Let’s
Draw a Kite!”
Ask a student volunteer to draw a kite on the board.
Name it kite ABDC and each angle formed ∠1, ∠2, ∠3, ∠4, …
Ask them questions:
1. Who among you tried to fly a kite?
2. In kite ABDC on the board, what are the interior angles?
3. How about the exterior angles?
4. How did you know that an angle is an interior angle? An exterior angle?

Presentation of the Lesson

Based on our activity, what do you think is our lesson for today?
Now class, Welcome to our topic Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem.
(Presentation of the lesson objectives.)
Are you ready class?
So, let’s start!

Activity 2 (DISCUSSION)
Exterior Angle Inequality Theorem
The measure of any exterior angle of a triangle is greater than either of the remote interior
angles.

m∠ e> m∠ a
m∠ e> m∠b

The measure of the exterior angle of a triangle is equal to the sum of the remote interior angles.
m∠ e=m∠a+ m∠b

Example 1: Find the measure of ∠ e .

m∠ e=m∠a+ m∠b m∠ e> m∠a m∠ e> m∠ b

m∠ e=75°+ 40 ° 115 °>75° 115 ° >40 °
m∠ e=115°
Example 2: Find the measure of ∠ b .

m∠ g=m∠ b+m∠ e
124 °=m∠b+ 42°
124 °−42° =m∠ b +42 °−42°
82 °=m ∠ b
m∠ e=82°

Example 3: Find the value of x. solve for the measure of the remote interior and exterior angles.

Activity 3 (GROUP ACTIVITY)

Directions: Find the extended/exterior angles in the given figure.
