V. ASSESSMENT OF THE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

A. Internship experience in the partner company

It was August and I and my friends are still haven’t decided where to apply. We
asked many banks located in San Antonio, San Isidro and Gapan, Ecija if they accept
intern students and they turn us down because they have policy that they didn’t accept
on-the-job trainees this year. Our friend’s sister recommended us in Social Security
System and we started to prepare the requirements needed in internship. We went to
SSS and the head of administration interviewed us. She asked us to pass the
recommendation letter first before the requirements. After passing the recommendation
letter and requirements, she accepted us to be interns in their company. She told us to
come back when we are going to start.
When we came back, it was our first day in training. The head of administration
oriented us what we should do in work place such as no cellphone during working hours,
ask first the trainer what task you will do and be always attentive when someone is
talking to you. Always respect the employees and members of SSS. She introduced us
in our team head and the team head deployed us in our respective trainer. I felt nervous
in my first day because I don’t want to make mistake and getting yelled by my trainers.
For the first two days, my trainers didn’t give me task so I helped my co-interns in their
task to get finished immediately. My trainers, our head and other employees in our
section are kind so I was easily get along with them and the environment at the work
place was good and it made us to do our work properly.
I made a new friendship during my training because we’re not the only interns
in our company partner. They have interns from other school which is Eduardo L. Joson
Memorial College. During training, the other interns helped me to learn new things that
I don’t know such as photocopy two sided of paper and encode some important
documents. It was easy in training because there is someone who is willing to help me
when I don’t know what to do. I’m happy that I got along with them and there’s no
boundary between us.
One time, the company partner will be check and audit by main branch of the
SSS. We were busy because it is important for them and other branch to be successful.
We organized the documents that will be audit. It was overload task but as long as we
work as one we finished it immediately and properly. We were so happy because it was
successful.
I experienced that every task that gave of my trainers was easy to do so I finished
it immediately and properly so I can help other interns in their tasks. The hard task that
they give to me is to encoded the miscellaneous and transportation expense of the
employee of SSS who conduct field investigation because it is important and no mistake
at all. It will be pass to the branch head so it should be correct. These experiences made
me think that I like to work on this company because of having a work environment that
helping each other and all the employees are kind and easy to get along with.
B. Problems/challenges encountered during the training

There was no problem that I encountered during my training in Social Security

System. The employees of the partner company accommodated us warmly. Any intern
will be happy when the employees of the company you applied for the on-the-job
training is accommodating.
One of the challenges that I had encountered during the training was when one
of my trainer asked me to photocopy some documents and I don’t know what to do so I
asked him in a respect way to teach what to do in Xerox machine. When I already
learned from him what to do, the next time some employees ask me to photocopy some
document, I will do it correctly and properly.
Other challenge that I encountered during on-the-job training was to do
something important such as encode the miscellaneous and transportation expense of
the employee of Social Security System. It was hard to do because I should not make
mistake because it will pass in our branch head.
C. Significant learning acquired from the internship experience

Internships are one of the best ways you can experience the workforce without
all the additional obligations or commitments. I have gained so much knowledge from
this internship experience, and while certain things helped me prepare for my
experiences, some didn't. Numerous good things that have happened as well as some
bad things have strengthened both my character and my faith.
In this training, I developed my work ethics and relationship-building skills with
the employees and co-interns. I learned that when we are on a team work, we can have
finished the task given by our trainers immediately. Helping each other can make a good
environment in the workplace.
I have learned to manage my time in research subject and internship better.
When I was in training, I prefer to be busy, and I think I can multitask fairly well. I
dislike saying "no" as well. If I speak it, I'll feel like I'm not reaching my full potential.
I typically worked on numerous things at once as a student intern, so I constantly had a
to-do list. I discovered that it's important to ask inquiries. I've always been the type to
inquire frequently to make sure I understand precisely what has to be done and how to
achieve it. I didn't know a lot of stuff before I started training, but after they taught me
something, I won't ask them again since I remember it.
After all, an internship is a learning experience, and the best way for me to learn
is by asking questions. If my supervisor was in a meeting or not available at the moment,
there was always someone on our section specifically the other interns that I could turn
to that was willing to help.
VI. RECOMMENDATIONS

A. Improvements related to the company

Social Security System is a company that provide protections on their
members. They help their members get the pension and benefit that they deserve.
Working in this company is difficult because sometimes there’s a member that hard
to talk with and he/she don’t understand what SSS employees said. Instead they
clarify it to the members, they made of fun on them. The employees talking about
it. The only thing that I can recommend for the improvement in this is that the
employees should clarify the things that they talk about so the members will
understand it.

B. Improvements related to the Internship Program

It was hard to find a good and reliable company for internship. Applying a
company that can give a task related to your course was hard to find because some
industries are not accepting interns. The only thing that I can recommend for the
improvement of internship program is the school must be helping the students to
find company for their training.

Some company were looking for endorsement or recommendation letter

from school before they entertain the students. I recommend to improve this certain
problem is that before applying on a certain company, the school must be prepared
the endorsement letter because it was the required documents that a company
should see when the students applied on them.
