Neuhaus, also a Republican, revealed earlier Tuesday that Adams contacted him last week to say the city
was going to pay for about 60 migrants to stay at the Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh in Orange.

Under the counties’ state-of-emergency declarations, hotels, motels and other short-term rentals in the
region are prohibited from accepting asylum-seekers bused there.

Adams is planning to send 60 migrants to Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh.

Kevin C. Downs for NY Post

He added that motels and hotels in the town were given hand-delivered notices Tuesday informing them
of the code, as well as a warning that local officials will “take whatever corrective action is necessary
should the Town Code be violated.”

Piaquadio said he, too, had been in contact with Adams in recent days — and that Hizzoner had agreed
to delay any relocation of migrants until his concerns, mostly tied to safety, were addressed.

Itwasn’t clear if his questions were answered before the decision was made to bus the migrants
Wednesday.

Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus declared a state of emergency to prevent migrants from being sent to his
county from New York City.

City Hall did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

A staffer at the Crossroads Hotel told The Post it was business as usual Tuesday — and there had been
no warning from management about the arrival of migrants.

The front-desk receptionist said Tuesday that rooms were available for $144 plus tax, adding, “We’re
pretty much sold out.

“Ifyou go online or look on Facebook, the county has issued an emergency order, so nothing’s happening
that we know of,” the worker said.

Locals ripped Adams’ move to dump the migrants in their town.

“New York City doesn’t want them, so they’re going to Orange County, and it happens to be in Newburgh,”
said Ron Moore, who works at the Pilot truck stop across from the motel.

The city is also planning to send migrants to the Armoni Inn and Suites in Orangeburg.
Kevin C. Downs for NY Post

“There are a lot of hard-working people, so personally housing people for free, food for free — I’m not a
fan of it.

“We want the community to know that we’re not allowing them to just hang out here.”

Another employee, who only gave her first name, Ariana, added. “Why not send them to [another hotel]
that’s not really that nice.”

“The Crossroads is a nice hotel, and they’re getting free support,” she said. “If we go over there and try to
get a room, it’s like $150. I know we’re got a lot of homeless Americans. Why aren’t we helping them?”

Why don't some of these Dems stand up to Biden and tell him to close the border? We will be
for this disaster forever.

The majority of Upstate votes Republican and didn't want this illegal invasion or wide-open
orders. This catastrophe was created by the Democrats. Adam's who is a Democrat mayor of a
city wants to unload the illegal mess Upstate. Adam's is a wimp and a hypocrite. NYC

If Abbott was "racist" for sending illegals to "black run cities", what is Adams for sending them
o "White run counties". NYC is a sanctuary city, Adams has to keep them until he says they
anymore. Pretty simple.

Adam's plan to use NYC parks and stadium parking lots is a non starter. Parks are the sole
scape of most NYers who aren't wealthy enough to afford a weekend home. Take that away
you be recalled pronto.

Never forget that NYC is a sanctuary city, effectively extending an invitation for illegal border
rossers. Too bad they didn't consider the consequences, or perhaps they believed only
in Texas an Arizona would be affected.

Few things better reveal the utter bankruptcy of progressive ideology than the reality that the
same people who champion open borders and sanctuary cities can't get rid of illegals fast
enough, when they have to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk.
