Teacher Observed: Manuela Aristizábal Bernal

Subject/Grade Level: Guidance Class/Second (Primary)

School Observed: The English School

Observer: Sumeyra Yazıcı

For the things you observed, place a check. Please explain further about the checked item

directly below the section. Provide overall comments and reflections at the end.

STUDENT BEHAVIOR (MAJORITY OF STUDENTS):

_√__ On Task _√___ Off Task _√___ Engaged _√____ Learning Successfully

Explain: All the students were harmonious in performing the tasks. Both in lecture and

individual work. Even the examples they gave on the subject were very striking.

TEACHER STRATEGIES OBSERVED:

_√_ Modeling _√_ Question/Answer _√_ Lecture __ Monitoring Groups

_√_ Listening _√_ Problem-Solving _√_ Evaluating ___ Reading To Students

__ Modifying __ Integrating Content __Guiding Cooperative Groups

Explain: I think the teacher is successful in this regard. She didn't do group work. But she

supported them in their individual work. She allowed her friends to support each other.

TEACHING MATERIALS BEING USED:

_√_Manipulatives ____ Workbooks _√__ Overhead Projector __ Smart Board

_√_ Chalkboard ____ Maps _√__ Computer _√__ Projector

___ Books ____ Other Audiovisuals __ None

Explain: A word-finding game was played on the whiteboard.

Projected via PPT and video projector. She used a computer for this.

Manipulatives used plain white paper as material and origami work was done. Later, he asked

them to write a case about the subject and find a solution to this study.

TYPE OF STUDENT GROUPING:

___ Small Groups _____ Whole Group _____ Pairs ____√__ Individuals

Explain: Individual study was done.

TYPE OF STUDENT ACTIVITY:

_ √ _ Worksheet _√__ Listening __√_ Writing ___ Reading __√_ Performing

___ Journaling __√_ Discussing ___ Centers ___ Homework

___ Research __ √ _ Investigation ___ Laboratory ___ Using Technology

Explain: I marked the investigation of students' individual work. In fact, I marked this point

because they would have done a study of their observations here. All of the items I have marked

have been successfully joined.

MANAGEMENT/DISCIPLINE:

_√__ Stated Expectations for Behavior _√_ Positive Reinforcement

__√_ Redirection of Inappropriate Behavior __√_ Encouragement of Students

__√_ Self-disciplined Students _√__ Effective Time Management

_√__ Materials Ready __√_ Enthusiasm for Teaching/Learning

Explain: There was no negative behavior that I saw related to the Stated Expectations for
behavior and the redirection of the implementation part that I marked. Positive behaviors are
reinforced in children. As I mentioned in my other work, I observed that they gave training to
teachers about school positive discipline and guided them on this subject. The teacher I observed
in my class was one of the school counselors. Apart from that, I asked only in the time
management section about all the items I marked, maybe there could be a summary to wrap up
the issue. but I think that the students learned the subject well in line with their studies.

OVERALL COMMENTS AND REFLECTIONS:

It was a perfect example for me in every way. In the lesson, I observed the harmony of both the teacher

and the student with each other. The strategies and methods he used guided me. The beginning of the

lesson with the game immediately attracted the students to the lesson. It was certainly nice of him to
ask critical questions afterward. I think it was very important for them to first get their opinion on the

subject and then tell them about it. I think that the lesson is reinforced by the students.

Frankly, I would like it to be a lesson in which I observed how the teacher, where the lesson was a bit

difficult, included the student who did not listen, and what strategies he applied. But I would like to say

that this course has added a lot to me.
