Walkthrough: The Song of Nephilim

Walkthrough: The Song of Nephilim Edit
At the end of the sequence you will be given control of your party once
more. There are a couple more errands to run, before going off to the
Song. You should now have five parts of the Robot. You will get further
spells for Shion for bringing in both legs, as well as the head. The spells
are both summon spells - Dominion Tank and Seraphim Bird. That brings
you two spells closer to the ultimate spell. With the new decoders you
found, you can finally open the Segment Address in the Cathedral Ship's
department store area. You'll get a Samurai Mask for opening it. There
are two more e-mails that you will get at this point too - one is from
Miyuki and the other is from Vector. You will get the F-Scythe (if you
agreed to help Miyuki) and a pair of tech attacks for Kos. At this point in
the game you should be able to defeat Great Joe - I have included my
strategy for beating him below (in the next section of the guide). Just
remember that he may be a little too powerful at this time, so you may
have to return to him later. Defeating him will give Jr. some special skills.
You can buy new equipment for your characters in the Our Treasure Inn
(Kukai Foundation). You can also upgrade your Gears at the Gear shop.
The same opportunities are available on the Elsa. Talk to the captain and
tell him you are ready to go to the Dock Colony. You can buy the AG-04
for 80,000 gold in the Talk to Me shop. When you are finally done
equipping your party, talk to Captain Matthews and choose to head to
the Song of Nephilim.

One advanced warning about this level - the enemies are really powerful!
Don't use this place to raise levels - come back later and do that. Each
battle here has a chance of dropping your party within a round - if the
enemies use their most powerful attacks! Make sure that you heal after
every battle!

As you enter the Song, you will find Momo. Unfortunately, she lost her
consciousness. The circular room that you come to contains a strange
puzzle. Basically, there are a whole bunch of blocks. Each of them has a
certain value associated to them. You have to destroy a certain value to
be able to operate the mechanism - each floor requires a certain amount
to be broken. The block in the bottom right corner is the size of one block
- the standard unit of measure. Destroy six blocks and push the button.
The elevator will rise to the third floor. The mech enemies here hit
extremely hard so be prepared to do some major healing! On the left side
of the area there is a door in the left wall - there is a button that you have
to push there. Return to the hallway and go to the right to get a Med Kit
DX. Return to where you entered the hall; go a little to the right to fall
back down to the first floor. Now destroy twelve boxes. This will bring you
to the fifth floor. Go all the way to the left to get the Decoder 14. Return
to the first level. There is only one more floor to visit now - the sixth one.
This time blast fifteen boxes. Head all the way around to the left to find a
Neo Armor Alpha. There are two door in the outer wall here - the right
one leads to the second tower while the other one leads to the third
tower. You need to go to the second tower now.

Save your game and then leave by the exit on the upper right. Set Momo
as the party leader and search the flashing blue light to find some more
abilities. Here she'll get her Momo's Kiss tech attack and her Starlight
spell. Return to the center room and go through the door directly to the
left. Destroy the canister to get the Cross. Return to the circular room
and go one door to the left. Climb down the ladder and then go up the
next one to find the Soldier's Honor. Return to the third floor and
continue along the hallway. Go down the ladder to the second floor. Go
down this hallway to find a pair of ladders - go up the one on the left.

Cross the little bridge and enter the other section. Here there are some
red containers for you to destroy. Do just that to find a Defibrillator Vest
and a Neo Armor Beta. The next container contains something a little
more dangerous - the Athra 26 Series. This opponent is very powerful -
watch your life totals throughout this match! Every time that it is hit it will
add that attack type to a list of what it is strong to. Also, it attacks very
often! Get into your Gears and alternate your attacks. You will get the
Decoder 2 for winning. You will also find the Segment Address No. 12 in
this small area. Enter it to find the W Hammer Rod. Return to the second
floor and go down the ladder.

Go to the right and enter the first door on the lower wall. Push the button
then return to the hallway. Go to the left and enter the next door. Destroy
the canister and then return to the hallway. Go all the way to the right
now. Enter the last room and destroy the canister. Be prepared to fight an
extremely powerful enemy - the Rianon Se! Put Momo, Jr. and Chaos
(don't bother using ice abilities or spells!) into the party. Get ready to
steal from him with both Jr. and Momo until you get the Boost Pack and
the Shield Armor. A cautionary note before starting the battle - stay out
of your Gears! The enemy drains health every round from your party - if it
hits your characters, fine it does a little damage. If it hits a Gear, all of a
sudden it is up another thousand life! At the start of the battle it will
disable your ability to boost. Either protect against this, or heal it as soon
as you can. Since half your attacks are disabled and Rianon Se absorbs
so much health, you will be here a long time. The one positive thing is
that it lacks group attacks. Just keep pounding it and you will win. Go
through the lower door after the battle. Push the button and then step
onto the lift. Enter the tower and save your game.

Enter the final tower. The enemies here are much stronger than the last
area - they tend to instant kill your characters, or will simply bind their
keys (i.e. stops you from using certain attacks). Go to the left and go
down the first ladders. Stop at the first floor, and go to the left. Destroy
the crates to drop a bridge. Cross it and pick up the Field Ring. Proceed
to the bottom floor and blow out the rest of the crates. Go to the left and
head up the ladder. Blow out the crates to the left, then cross the bridge
and climb the ladder. Go to the right and destroy the two containers.
Grab the Skill Upgrade S and then fall down the hole left by the other
container. You'll get an Ether Pack DX as soon as you land, as well as a
Med Kit for smashing the door. Grab the Decoder 17 and then smash the
container that is blocking the ladder. Return to the first floor and smash
all the remaining crates. Grab the Ether Pack DX. Return to the last
ladder and exit the area via the door in the lower wall. Reenter the last
place and climb the ladder. Lower and cross the bridge. Go down the
ladder on the other side. Go to the left and enter a strange looking room.
Shoot the blue column three times, the red column four times and the
green column once. This will open a door. Go through the door and hit
the switch. This will activate the last of the towers. Enter the nearby room
and use the elevator. This will return you to the top of the tower. Go
through the upper right door and save your game in the second tower
(unless you want to do all that again!).

Now is a very good time to increase your levels and skills. The next
challenge is a hard one - three boss fights in a row! Make sure that you
are at least level thirty and are fully healed and wearing the best gear.
Buy some Guard Repairs and Recoveries and equip them to your Gears.
Equip them with weapons like the GRD20AG, LM11VX and the GLG76AG
(equip two to a character to enable the use of W-Attack). Switch Jr.,
Chaos and Shion into the party. Heal their Gears and prepare them for a
boss. Use the bridge that appeared between the first and third towers.
Get on the strange elevator and use it to enter the central tower. Open
the door to begin the first movie in a long while... You'll then have to fight
the Simeon.

The Simeon is much larger than your Gears. Board them as soon as the
fight begins, but don't bother doing so unless you are using the very best
weapons. With 8400 hit points to drain, this will be one very long battle!
It is immune to a lot of attacks by those on foot, so be prepared to use
beam weapons, should you decided to attack like that! Once he gets
below 4000 HP he will start attacking with full party hitting spells. He will
also start warning you of powerful attacks before they occur. The Guard
Recoveries make this battle easy - being able to replenish your life that
often is definitely a really nice bonus! The Simeon has a nasty
anti-personnel weapon that it uses in the second half of the battle. You
only have to stay in your Gears to avoid it! It takes a really long time to
beat him, but you should have no problems doing it. Although, it
probably would have gone quicker, were I using W-Attacks!

A long scene starts after the battle. Afterwards you will be given a chance
to rest and heal. You can also return to the second tower to save, if you
so wish. For maximum effectiveness, protect your gears against Engine
Stop and Pilot Sleep. Also, protect your characters against Stop and
Confusion.

Talk to the purple guy when you are ready to do battle. Ein Rugel is even
worse than the last guy! He starts off the battle by disabling all your
physical attacks - this attack has no effect on Gears... Make sure that you
steal his Master's Pendant! The Ein Rugel has a defensive barrier against
lightning and ice spells - lower its defense by damaging it! Using
W-Attacks here is key - they deal so much more damage than any other
attacks. Your enemy will spend the entire battle trying to put your pilots
to sleep. After you kill the thing it will transform into the Doppelwogel.

The Doppelwogel is carrying a Gemini Clock and a Samurai Heart. All you
need to steal is the first of the two items. Anyone without protection from
Engine Stop should stay out of their Gear for the fight - staying inside
will most likely make them useless. Also, those Gears with Lancer arms
cannot attack either, as the enemy flies. The enemy will cast Stop and
Confusion spells on those that are not in Gears, so be ready to heal those
effects too. It has a full group attack that can be devastating - Eternal
Storm. This attack deals close to 500 damage to each character, so try to
keep your party healed at all times! Towards the end of the battle he will
use this attack every round. It only takes a few W-Attacks with Grenade
Launchers to finish this guy off...

After the battle you will get a chance to chat with your teammates. You'll
return to the Durandal automatically once you leave the room.
