Pinagalaan Falls
Pinagalaan Falls is Bayugan City’s largest falls,
followed by Bayug Falls and Gethsemane Falls. It is
located at Barangay Pinagalaan, Bayugan City, Agusan del
Sur.
The waterfall measures 60 feet high which cascades
to a rock pool surrounded by wild ferns and trees and is not
more or less 8-13 meters high with crystal clear water. The
falls’ water is potable. In fact, it serves as the source of
drinking water in the city. It is surrounded with various trees
species that give shade to the surroundings and a
spectacular view of a beautiful natural creation. The place
is passable by two and four-wheel vehicles.
It is approximately 3 kilometers away from the City
proper. The falls rushes down into its green pool that is
really cool and refreshing for a good swim. It is an ideal place to relax during humid days.
Its majestic natural formation, and its picture perfect beauty, is one of a kind and truly one
of Bayugan City’s greatest prides.

Okay, good! To explore more about

this type of paragraph development, we
will have our discussion on Paragraph
Development by Description.

PARAGRAPH DEVELOPMENT BY DESCRIPTION

Rich descriptive words that put a picture of a person, place or an object in a

reader’s mind. When a person is writing a specific piece, there should be very detailed
observations, write what you see in your mind. All parts should be equal. The more
details, the better the story. You should start at one point and move in one direction as
not to confuse the reader. Such a clockwise, left to right, top to bottom. The reader should
be able to envision the picture that you had in your mind as the writer.

SUGGESTIONS IN WRITING A DESCRIPTIVE PARAGRAPH

Though there are no hard and fast rules for how exactly these paragraphs
should be structured, there are several suggestions that can help you write an
effective and appealing descriptive paragraph.

1. Make sure to choose a meaningful person, place, or thing.

Before you begin your paragraph, you have to be sure to pick something that is
worth describing.
2. Include details which come to your senses.
In writing a descriptive paragraph, you need to make use of sensory details
(sense of smell, touch, taste, hearing and sight.)
3. Make unique observations
When you're describing something, give your readers an image, feeling, smell, or
sight that they wouldn't normally expect.
4. Include some figurative language
You can describe a person, place, or thing while using both literal language and
speaking on the level of metaphor or simile to fully give a person a sense of the
thing that is being described.
5. Wrap it up
You'll need to end the paragraph in some way to remind readers of what you had
described and to leave a lasting idea of the person, place, or thing in their minds.

E. Developing ACTIVITY 3: APPLYING THE LESSON

Mastery
(Leads to Formative To test your understanding of the
