2023 FIRST QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)

1. In reference to DepEd Leyte Division Memorandum No. 109, s. 2023, titled 2023 First Quarter
Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED), in relation to the approved National Disaster Risk
Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) through Memorandum No. 006, s. 2023, on the
Resumption of Face-to-Face Conduct of Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, all schools and
offices of the Leyte Division are enjoined to participate in the 2023 First Quarter NSED on March 9,
2023; at 2:00 P.M.

2. With this, all teachers and learners are enjoined to simultaneously practice the “duck, cover and hold”
procedure at the set times, while adhering to the minimum public health standards.

3. In order to further raise awareness regarding earthquake preparedness, School DRRM Coordinator is
encouraged to:
a. intensifies the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign by displaying
earthquake preparedness measures at school bulletins.
b. Conduct Family Earthquake Preparedness homework to the PTA and barangay officials;
c. Prepare documentation and necessary preparation and submit Activity Completion Report.

4. Attached are the Guidance note for the Family Earthquake Preparedness Homework and the Tools for
K-2 and Grade 3 to 6. Please give copies to each teacher and instruct them to photocopy the tools for
their learners. Each pupil must have a copy to answer with their parents.

5. Immediate and strict compliance of this Memorandum is desired.
