What does a fishing manager do?


A fishing manager oversees the fishing department,
typically at an outdoor activity or sporting goods
store. Responsibilities include managing inventory,
monitoring retail sales, and providing customer
service. They answer questions about equipment to
help customers choose a fishing pole or bait.
Depending on the size of the department, a fishing
manager may oversee other employees and be
responsible for scheduling, training, and tracking
sales activity. Qualifications to become a fishing
manager include a strong working knowledge of the
equipment used for fishing and retail or sales
experience. They work in fisheries that house
various fish species in artificial, industrial
environments. These environments include large
ponds, water tanks or open-ocean nets,
depending on the type of fish stocked. As these
are industrial facilities, there's usually lots of
heavy machinery on-site such as cranes, so the
managers work with health and safety
regulations in mind. The physical environment
depends on the type of fish stocked so the
managers may work indoors or outdoors.
Skills needed to become a fishing manager

Qualifications to become a fishing manager include


a strong working knowledge of the equipment used
for fishing and retail or sales experience. Because
this is a management position, you may benefit from
post-secondary education, but most employers
prefer knowledge of fishing gear and related
equipment. The job of a fishing manager is to
oversee the fishing department at an outdoor activity
or sporting goods store. Most Fishery Managers are
required to have a bachelor’s degree, particularly
in Natural Sciences, Aquaculture, Technology, or
other related field. Most do not go on to pursue a
master’s degree or higher education.
Hands-on experience is highly valued for
becoming a Fishing Manager. Working at a Fish
Farm for several years before pursuing this career
is advisable. Taking coursework in natural
sciences, statistics, accounting, management, and
database administration is recommended.

What does a Greenhouse manager do?


 A greenhouse manager oversees the daily
operations of a greenhouse. Their duties include
hiring and training new staff, managing schedules,
and directing staff on tasks, such as the propagation,
cultivation, and harvesting of plants. As a
greenhouse manager, you may work on a farm, for a
large, commercial agricultural operation, or in a
horticulture department on a college campus. You
breed and cultivate decorative or functional trees,
shrubs, and flowers. You are responsible for daily
inspections of the facility to ensure the conditions
are optimal for the plants and handling any diseases
or pests that may appear in the greenhouse.

How to Become a Greenhouse Manager


There are no formal education requirements to
become a greenhouse manager, though some do
complete a horticulture or other related program
from a vocational school or community college.
Acquire an entry-level position at a nursery or
greenhouse to gain hands-on experience with a
variety of plants. Study how to cultivate different
species, noting ideal growing conditions and
techniques. Once you have several years of
experience in the field, seek greenhouse manager
positions at area nurseries or other agricultural
organization.  A bachelor’s degree in horticulture is
preferred but can also have an associate degree. To
pursue a career as a Greenhouse Manager The
following high school courses are recommended: 
Agricultural education, a focus on sciences such as
botany, biology, horticulture, and mathematics.

What does a food scientist do?

A food scientist involves studying all the basic


elements of food. Not only that, but a food
scientist also looks for ways to make processed
food healthy and increase the shelf life of various
packaged foods. The work responsibility of food
scientists includes checking the stability and
maturity of raw ingredients. Food scientists also
hold responsibility to inspect safety compliance as
per government regulations concerning quality,
sanitation conditions, and waste management.
The food researcher’s job is to ensure that the
food ingredients meet the required standards in
terms of quality, safety, and nutritional value.
They ensure the improvement in the quality of
food such as its texture, color, composition,
convenience, and nutrient value. Food scientists
use their knowledge in the subjects of chemistry,
biology, food production, and processing. They
also apply their knowledge in the functioning of
techniques and equipment used in food
processing and production.
