3. Let them compare and explain the similarities of the previous examples in
music, in
terms of the elements and characteristics of each.
4. Ask them to share their impressions, experiences, thoughts, and
feelings after listening to the music and discussing all these.
Application Listening Activity: Works of 20th Century Composers
1. Play any of the following excerpts:
15 mins. Gershwin-“La la Lucille”-1919
Bernstein-“West Side Story”-1957
Glass- “Einstein on the beach”-1976
2. Let the students listen carefully to each excerpt and be able to recognize
the distinct musical style of each composer.
3. Let them choose a composition that they like.
4. Let them write a short reaction paper on it.
5. Collect their works.
Assessment “GUESS WHO?’
The teacher will play the excerpts of the music done during the listening activity
and the students will write the title and composer based on its musical style and
technique.
