1. Warm-up
Suggested activity:

+ Have ss discuss the effect of intonation in communication
2. Lead-in
- Suggested discussion:
What do you often go to when it comes to shopping?
- Textbook activities:
+ Describing pictures: Have ss look at the pictures in their textbooks and
talk about each picture. Ask ss what they can do/buy in each place.
+ Ss do the exercises in the textbook
3. Listening: Identify “distractors” & Recognize synonyms and paraphrase,
section 2, multiple choice questions
- Focus students’ attention to the tips given
- Guide ss the strategies they can use when dealing with each type of task
- Ask ss to note down the synonyms and paraphrasing in a notework and
work more/revise on them at home.
- Have ss to listen and identify distractors, have ss look at the transcript if
necessary
- Have ss reflect on difficulties when it comes to dealing with section 2 or
multiple choice questions
- Have ss practice identifying distractors with TOEFL Listening Comprehension:

- Notes: Normally, ss will not find it challenging to get the exercises in the
textbook done, so Vietnamese teacher has prepared further materials for
