Employees Ethical Practices: The Case of a Community College in

Misamis Oriental

Abstract
Ethical behavior conforms the foundation of human life. Ethics are a
core value for our community. They significantly impacted the outcome of
our every action. Workplace ethics training is predominantly becoming
popular as most institution recognize their importance. Encouraging ethical
behavior at workplace has resulted in sizeable productivity in many
institution. In this paper an aim has been produced to address some ethical
issues at workplace and advice to manage them. Paper focuses on some
workplace ethics for employees as well as the institution, which would be
abundant to develop ethical behavior and make workplace a happy place to
work.

Ethics

Introduction
Ethical behaviour in the workplace is important for it can stimulate
positive employee behaviours that lead to organizational growth, on the
other hand unethical behaviour can stimulate damaging title that lead to
organizational end.
Studying the employees’ ethical practices specifically in the case of a
Community College in Misamis Oriental is essential in increasing employee
performance, job satisfaction and organizational commitment. This will help
the researchers identify the right and wrong actions that employees
perform as well as develop and create solutions to problem that exist in line
with the ethical practices.
According to Dr. Thomas Mahan, Ethics in the workplace is defined as the
moral code that guides the behaviour of employees with respect to what is
right and wrong in regard to conduct and decision making. Ethical decision
making in the workplace takes into account the individual employee’s best
interest and also takes into account the best interest of those impacted.
The latter of the definition is often where individual employees struggle to
act ethically. Furthermore, ethical behaviour doesn’t only apply to individual
employees, the organization itself should exemplify standards of ethical
conduct.
In addition, Indeed Editorial Team(2022) states that workplace ethics is
also known as ethics at work are the moral principles businesses
implement to determine what actions are appropriate or inappropriate at
work. Workplace ethics impact everything from how the business is run to
how employees should act at work to uphold the company's image.
To ensure businesses successfully integrate workplace ethics into their
company's culture, every employee must follow them. This includes
managers and even CEOs, who set an example for their employees to act
appropriately. Employees at every level are motivated to work harder and
uphold workplace ethics, as they feel equal to one another.
As an individual, you can also have your own set of ethics to follow at work,
but they should align with the company. This ensures you can set personal
goals that are attainable while still working towards common goals.

This study is conducted in the Community College of Misamis


Oriental. The study’s main focus is on what are the ethical practices of the
employees in a Community College in Misamis Oriental, the effect of their
performance and with regards to the unethical practices, the researcher
may generate solutions to solve the problem.
This is relevant because it governs professionals a rules related to the way
they should act towards people.

Methods

The study involved sampled 192 employees currently employed in a


Community College in Misamis Oriental. The reason for choosing these
employees as respondents is that they are working in Community College
in Misamis Oriental to which is the study focuses.
