Introduction of Sri Lanka


Sri Lanka is a small island County which is in the Indian Ocean. It is known as the “pearl” of the Indian
Ocean. It lies between longitudes 79 and 81 east and latitudes 5 and 10 north. From north to South the
island is 425 kilometers long and from west to east it is 225 kilometers width. The capital city of Sri Lanka
is Sri Jayawardanapura Kotte. The island has a tropical climate. Two monsoons coming from the north
east and the south west bring rain to all province of the country. Also Convectional rain bring all over
country time to time. Due to this rain pattern it is support to protect our natural water resources.

The temperature ranges between 20 to 30 centigrade. We can feel different climate condition in different
places in sri lanka. In the central hills the climate is winter. It’s calling small England in sri lanka. Also north
& beach areas is warm. Diversity of the temperature is an internal Natural resources for us to feel
difference climate conditions within short time period. We can reach any location within 3 hours due to
the development of infrastructure in the sri lanka.

Ambewela is a small town, or a hill station, located in the Nuwara Eliya District of Sri Lanka. The area is
also sometimes called "Little New Zealand". The town is situated approximately 17 km south-east of the
district capital Nuwara Eliya. Ambewela is also a service center to the New Galway tea planting district.

The climatic and economic conditions in Ambewela make it an ideal location for dairy farming, hence the
country's only milk powder factory is situated in this area. The two animal husbandries, Ambewela Farm
and New Zealand Farm, have Ayrshire cattle and Friesian cows respectively. The geographic location and
altitude of Ambewela expose the site to strong Southwest Monsoons, with winds occasionally reaching
over 12 m/s (39 ft/s), making the area a favourable location for wind farms and other wind
energy developments. As the site is only used for livestock development and similar activities

Pattipola railway station is the 62nd station on the Main Line, and is 224 km away from Colombo. It is the
highest railway station in Sri Lanka with an elevation of 1,897.5 m (6,225 ft) high above mean sea level.
The station has one platform with a second track as a siding loop. All the trains that run on the Main Line,
including the Podi Menike and Udarata Menike express trains stop at the station.

It has many mountains, waterfalls, rivers, forests, tanks, flower gardens, animals, birds, beaches and
ruined cities. The highest mountain is Pidurutalagala, which is 2524 meters high and the longest river is
the Mahaweli, which is over 300 kilometres long. Kelani, Kalu, Walawe and Nilwala also huge rivers. Those
all rivers originate from Adam’s peak. Adam's Peak is a 2,243 m tall conical mountain located in central Sri
Lanka. It is well known for the Sri Pada , "sacred footprint", a 1.8 m rock formation near the summit, which
in Buddhist tradition is held to be the footprint of the Buddha, in Hindu tradition that
of Hanuman or Shiva and in some Islamic and Christian traditions that of Adam, or that of St. Thomas

.As well as there are beautiful lot of waterfalls in the country mainly like as Dunhida, Rawana Ella,
Diyaluma, Bambara Kanada and Lakshapana.

A Kumbura or Ketha is the land on which farmers cultivate paddy. Rice is the staple food of Sri Lanka and
as such, paddy cultivation is given utmost importance in the agriculture industry. Ancient and traditional
farmers were self-sufficient in rice production and ancient Ceylon is said to have been among the foremost
paddy exporters in the world. Paddy production in the country flourished during the reign of Sri Lankan
kings, who fostered and nurtured production in various ways including, most notably, the supply of water
through the construction of large scale irrigation tanks – Ceylon was popularly known as the ‘The Great
Barn of the East’ during the reign of King Parakramabahu who is renowned for his hydraulic construction
and renovation in aid of agriculture.

Ancient and traditional paddy cultivation practices were completely organic and did not induce any harm
to the surrounding environment or health.

Despite its small size, Sri Lanka possesses a high level of biodiversity and wildlife resources, and is rated
among the 34 biodiversity hotspots in the world. Many species of flora and fauna are indigenous to Sri
Lanka. Thirteen percent of Sri Lanka's land surface has been designated as Wildlife Protected Areas
(WLPAs), which at present exceed a total area of 8500 km2. Approximately 7% of the area is national
parks, the areas allowed for the public to see and study wildlife. Sri Lanka's national parks have been
become popular tourist destinations.
This has made the island a country with the highest rates of biological endemism in the world. We have
forests where animals, birds, reptiles live freely. Yala, Wilpaththu and Kumana are wild life reserves. Wild
animals live in the game reserves. Elephants, leopards, bears, deer, Loris and monkeys are found here.
There are many varieties of birds live in their natural habitat. Peacocks. Eagles. Jungle fowls and parrots
are some of the four hundred kinds of birds that are found on the island.

The lowland rain forests cover 124,340.8 ha (480.1 sq mi) in total and accounts for 2.14 percent of Sri
Lanka's land area.Wet monsoon forests receive 2,500–1,800 mm (98–71 in) of annual rainfall and are
situated belove 1,000 meters (3,281 ft) of altitude. Kanneliya, Viharakele, Nakiyadeniya, and Sinharaja,
which is a world heritage site are the forests that represent this ecoregion. Bambarabotuwa, Morapitiya
Runakanda, Gilimale and Eratne are some of the other forest reserves. Even rainfall throughout the year,
and invariable temperature resulted in rich biodiversity. These forests also act as an important catchment
area for rivers. There are many different wild flowers, shrubs and trees here and the Peradeniya and
Huggala botanical gardens have a large variety of tropical plants.
Wilpattu National Park is a park located on the island of Sri Lanka. The unique feature of this park is the
existence of "Willus" (Natural lakes) - Natural, sand-rimmed water basins or depressions that fill with
rainwater. Located in the Northwest coast lowland dry zone of Sri Lanka. The park is located 30 km
west Anuradhapura and located 26 km north of Puttalam (approximately 180 km north of Colombo). The
park is 1,317 square kilometers (131, 693 hectares) and ranges from 0 to 152 meters above sea level.
Nearly one hundred and six lakes (Willu) and tanks are found spread throughout Wilpattu. Wilpattu is the
largest and one of the oldest National Parks in Sri Lanka. Wilpattu is among the top national parks world-
renowned for its leopard population.
Yala National Park is the most visited and second largest national park in Sri Lanka, bordering the Indian
Ocean. The park consists of five blocks, two of which are now open to the public, and also adjoining parks.
The blocks have individual names such as, Ruhuna National Park (Block 1), and Kumana National Park or
'Yala East' for the adjoining area. It is situated in the southeast region of the country, and lies in Southern
Province and Uva Province. The park covers 979 square kilometres (378 sq mi) and is located about 300
kilometres (190 mi) from Colombo. Yala was designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, and, along
with Wilpattu was one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka, having been designated in 1938. The
park is best known for its variety of wild animals. It is important for the conservation of Sri Lankan
elephants, Sri Lankan leopards and aquatic birds.

Kumana National Park spreads over an area of 35,664 hectares. In the west, the park is bordered by River
Kumubukkan Oya; to the south is south-eastern coast that runs to Panama. A 200 hectares mangrove
swamp called “Kumana Villu” within the Park is subject to occasional inundation with sea water. It is at
this swamp that many water birds nest, during the months of May and June. Scattered in the Kumana
National Park are several water pools that are favorite spots of the wildlife: Kudawila wewa, Thummulla
wewa and Kotalinda wewa.

Kumana National Park provides excellent feeding and resting habitats for a large number of threatened
wetland species, including three turtle species such as the Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Loggerhead
Turtle (Caretta caretta), and the Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivaceae).

Among other threatened species of reptiles are the globally vulnerable Mugger Crocodile (Crocodylus
palustris).The most sighted reptiles at Kumana National Park are Mugger Crocodile, the Indian Flap-
shelled Turtle, and the Indian Black Turtle.

Sri Lanka records more than 430 bird species comprising endemic, resident and migrant birds. Of these,
the bird watchers are able to watch over 200 species easily. The wide variety of birds found in the
numerous wildlife parks of Sri Lanka makes the tropical island a prime bird watching destination in the
world. The Kumana National Park is the most important and most popular bird sanctuary in Sri Lanka.
Kumana birdlife supported by Some 20 lagoons and tank is an ornithologist’s paradise. During April–July,
tens of thousands of birds migrate to the Kumana swamp area annually nearly 255 species of birds have
been recorded in the National Park. Regular sightings of birds include pelicans, painted storks, spoonbills,
white ibis, herons, egrets and hundreds of little cormorants. The very rare black-necked stork has also
been spotted at the swamp.

The Turtle Care Centre at Kosgoda beach is one of 18 turtle hatcheries along the southern coast of Sri
Lanka. The centre is located in the South Western coastal village of Kosgoda and was establised in 1981.
It is also very popular as all five species of turtles that visit Sri Lanka nest in Kosgoda. This is not so with
many of the other hatcheries around the island whose beaches host only some of the species.

The centre functions mainly as a hatchery and makes huge efforts to increase the rate of hatching, and
survival of baby turtles in their very initial stages. However the Care centre also works on sick or injured
adults; treating them and releasing them back into the ocean. They also run volunteer programs and
awareness programs for local and international visitors.

The Delfy is Located on the Palk Straight, 10 km southwest of Jaffna, Delft (also known as Neduntivu or
the Long Island) is the second largest of Sri Lanka's islands with a history spanning over a thousand years.
Delft's history and heritage was especially influenced by Ceylon's relationships with Portuguese, Dutch
and British colonists since the 16th century. Utilized as a ground for rearing cattle and horses, the island
was first described as Ilha das Vacas or Island of Cows and then as Ilha das Cavallos or Island of Horses.
Even today, the island is famously known for its extraordinary population of wild horses.
The Kanniya Hot Springs is a site with hot wells located in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. There are seven wells in
a square shape. Wells are only 3–4 feet deep and you can clearly see the bottom. The temperature is
considerably high but vary slightly from one spring to another. Wells run out of water, when 10-15 buckets
of water are taken out.

Sri Lanka has 103 rivers. The longest of these is the Mahaweli River, extending 335 kilometres
(208 mi). These waterways give rise to 51 natural waterfalls of 10 metres (33 ft) or more. The highest
is Bambarakanda Falls, with a height of 263 metres (863 ft). Sri Lanka's coastline is 1,585 km (985 mi) long

There are 27000 large tanks ( Wewa)in at Anuradhapura & Polonnaruwa area . Those tanks support for
sustainable paddy cultivation in that areas. Sigiriya is the 8th wonder in the world.Many tourists came to
our country, because it has a natural beautiful.

The golden beaches of Sri Lanka are very much enjoyed by the tourists. Sri Lanka possesses nearly 1600 km
coastlines with tropical beaches which are popular among both local and foreign tourists. Most of the
coastlines of the country are studded with varying coastal features such as bays, lagoons, sandbanks, and
rocky headlands. Marine recreation activities, such as sea bathing and swimming, surfing, boating,
snorkeling, deep-sea fishing, underwater photography, and scuba diving, can be seen at most of these
beaches and related resort areas. Beaches at Tangalle, Beruawala, Mirissa, Bentota, Arugambay,
Pasikudah, Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, and Negombo are considered as famous beaches in the country

The economy of Sri Lanka is both agricultural and trade based. Tea, rubber, and coconut products are
important exports. As other exports spices for an example pepper, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves are
exported to overseas. Rice is our staple food. There are so many fertile paddy fields in this country. It is
symbol of this country’s prosperity.

The tourist business in Sri Lanka brings in income to the economy. Sri Lanka has always been famous for
it’s precious stones. In the past traders from overseas visited the island looking for gems. This is still an
important market today

Sri Lanka's electricity demand is currently met by nine thermal power stations, fifteen
large hydroelectric power stations, and fifteen wind farms, with a smaller share from small hydro facilities
and other renewables such as solar. Most hydroelectric and thermal/fossil fuel–based power stations in
the country are owned and/or operated by the government via the state-run Ceylon Electricity
Board (CEB), while the renewable energy sector consists mostly of privately run plants operating on
a power purchase agreement with the CEB. We use all natural resources to general electricity without
harming the environment.

Sri Lanka’s transport system is based on a road network of approximately 100,000 km and a rail network
of about 2,000 km linking Colombo with the rest of the country. Notable recent developments have been
the Southern Expressway connecting Colombo and Matara in the deep South and the Airport/Katunayake
Expressway. The Outer Circular Highway in the Western Province, and the Central Expressway which links
Colombo and the Hill Capital of Kandy as well as the Southern Expressway Extension are nearing
completion.
Sri Lanka is located at the intersection of major international shipping routes within the world’s busiest
maritime transportation lanes. Due to this location advantage, Sri Lankan ports have continuously
contributed to the development of the country. The Colombo Port is considered the busiest port in South
Asia and according the Alphaliner Rankings 2017 is rated as the 23rd ‘Best Port in the World’. Able to cater
to the latest ‘Triple E Class’ ships, 33 major shipping lines use the Colombo Port while 75% of port volumes
are transhipment.Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) is the state-owned operator of major commercial ports
in sri lanka. Currently operates ports in Colombo, Galle, Hambantota, Kankesanthurai, Oluwil, Point Pedro

Trincomalee Harbour is a seaport in Trincomalee Bay or Koddiyar Bay, a large natural harbour situated on
the northeastern coast of Sri Lanka.
Located by Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, in the heart of the Indian Ocean, its strategic importance has shaped
its history. There have been many sea battles to control the harbour. The Portuguese, Dutch, French, and
the English have each held it in turn. In 1942 the Imperial Japanese Navy attacked Trincomalee harbour
and sank three British warships anchored there. The harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the
world, is overlooked by terraced highlands, and its entrance is guarded by two headlands. The harbour
has 1630 hectares of water, while the entrance channel is 500 metres wide. The bay includes the first of
a number submarine canyons, making Trincomalee one of the finest deep-sea harbours in the world

The Bandaranaike International Airport is the main international airport in Sri Lanka, located 30 km North
of Colombo, with connectivity to major routes and 100 cities around the world. The Mattala Rajapaksha
International Airport is the second international airport, located in the Southern Province of the country.

Sri Lanka’s telecom sector has been ahead of its regional peers for a significant period. At the end of 2017,
cellular mobile subscriptions in Sri Lanka was 28.2 million, while fixed access telephone subscriptions
stood at 2.5 million. Sri Lanka’s mobile market has experienced robust growth over the last five years with
mobile penetration rising from 96% in 2012 to 126% in 2017 across the country. Mobile broadband
penetration has also recorded a rapid growth over the past five years with market penetration increasing
from 8% in 2012 to 21% in 2017. The availability of e-commerce applications including mobile banking, e-
bus ticketing, and mobile Points of Sale (POS) continues to increase

A person can travel the whole compact island within few days because it consists only 65,610 square km
and the rarest and the most extensive range of attractions to be seen in the shortest space of time.

century BC by Venerable Mahinda the son of the Indian Emperor Ashoka. Sri Lanka, with a population of
20 Million out of which 75% is Sinhalese Buddhist, has the longest continuous history of Buddhism
compared to any other Buddhist nation. Sri Lankan culture has been nourished by Theravada Buddhism
& is dating back as far as 2600 years.

Buddhism is based on teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama, who is known as the Buddha ‘The
enlightened one’. It is a ‘non theistic’ religion & doesn’t involve any believe in God. Instead, it
encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and practices. Buddhism has greatly influenced Sri Lankan way
of life although this is less apparent today specially in cities like Colombo. Majority of Sri Lankans are quite
conservative and have simple life style. They believe in the effects of karma and the cycle of death and
rebirth.

The Sri Lankan culture centers around the temple. Kandy ‘Dalada Maligawe’ which house the ‘tooth relic
of Buddha’ is one of the sacred places on the Island. It is believed that Sinhalese as an ethnic group are
destined to preserve and protect Buddhism in the country. Therefore, Sri Lanka has been ruled by
Sinhalese Buddhist kings and leaders for many years in the past to date.

Such as, the paintings and statues found in the ‘Dambulla Cave temple’ are related to Lord Buddha and
his life. The frescoes found at Sigiriya and Temple of the Tooth Relic in Kandy are with historical value.
UNESCO has identified six archaeological World Heritage Sites in the island, such as Anuradhapura,
Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Sigiriya, Kandy & Galle fort. Most of these World Heritage Sites within a compact
area called the Cultural Triangle.

Sri Lankan culture if often reflected by the use of art, architecture, sculptures, and even food. Some people
would say that Sri Lanka has a more conventional culture which is obviously influenced by the prominent
religions prevailing the country such as buddhism, Tamil, Christian, islam , etc. Our country has many
cultural events such as Sinhala & Tamil new year,Ramazan,thai pongal,christmas etc The Sri Lankan way
of life is very simple and filled with humility and happiness, this is one of the reasons why the Sri Lankans
have a very great sense in appreciating the simple things in life such as nature.

Foreign relations of Sri Lanka refers to the diplomatic and commercial relations between Sri Lanka and
other countries. Sri Lanka has stressed its principle of friendship towards all, enmity towards none in its
diplomacy.
Sri Lanka participates in multilateral diplomacy, particularly at the United Nations, where it seeks to
promote sovereignty, independence, and development in the developing world. Sri Lanka was a founding
member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). It also is a member of the Commonwealth of
Nations, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), World Bank, International Monetary
Fund (IMF), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Colombo Plan. Sri Lanka continues its active participation
in the NAM, while also stressing the importance it places on regionalism by playing a strong role in SAARC
and member of the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA)

Sri Lanka comprises of a highly versatile and skilled workforce which is cost competitive, highly productive
and bilingual. Majority of the Sri Lankan workforce consist of highly qualified professionals having
extensive experience in, numerous fields such as information technology, manufacturing, finance and
accounting, fashion and design, and law.

Today's baby boomers and older Gen Xers face a dual challenge: They're caring for their own children,
and sometimes grandchildren, as well as caring for parents. Many people in this sandwich generation
desperately need the break a senior adult day-care business provides. The burden of caring for older
family members can be overwhelming, and a place where these seniors can socialize and participate in
activities in a safe, supervised environment is a welcome option for stressed caregivers.
The North American population is graying at an alarming rate. Older adults made up 12.9 percent of
Americans in 2009, roughly 1 of every 8. By 2030, all baby boomers will be older than age 65. This means
1 in every 5 people will be a senior.

Considering all the facts & spiritual life of us Elder care service is incorporated since 2020 with complying
sri Lankan government law to provide excellent service to the elders who need protect & assist of some
one. Mainly we will focus for foreign senior elders for this facility. Our main purpose is to be a child for
their elder life and giving excellent service as a child for them.

This senior care facility is a standard and licensed senior care facility that will be located in the western
province in a neatly renovated and secured spacious housing facility. Our senior care facility is specifically
designed and equipped with the needed accommodation facilities / gadgets to give comfort and security
to all our residence irrespective of the religious affiliations, their race, and health condition.
The Elder care unit is located at near the Government hospital & the Privet hospitals. So within 15 minutes
the facilities can be reached.
We are certain that our values will help us drive the project to enviable heights and also help us attract
the numbers of residents that will make our facility fully occupied year in year out. Despite the fact that
we are a senior care facility, we are going to be a health conscious and customer-centric with a service
culture that will be deeply rooted in the fabric of our organizational structure and indeed at all levels of
the organization.
Our accommodation facility will be decorated in an exquisite and elegant facade, so much so that it will
be a conspicuous edifice in the city where it is located. We will provide a conducive home for our residents.
Also the environment will design to decrease the stress of them. Initially the facility will be built for 20 nos
of Elders.

With that, we know that we will be able to consistently achieve our set business goals, increase our
profitability and reinforce our positive long-term relationships with our clientele, partners (vendors), and
all our employees as well. Otherwise we need to provide excellent services to our parents attached in our
facility. We will promise to look after them as our parents. It is our main objective as a organization rather

all the public area within the lodging facility.
When we recruiting Elders the agreement will be signed by the company & the elder’s Trustee ( Elder’s
children, etc.)
We will maintain our own vehicle for travelling purpose of our elders. Every week we will arrange a journey
or some happening activity to our parents. We hope their engagement for this activities, we will prepare
a organizing team for this purposes. After any activity feedback will be taken from elders. Based on the
findings improvements will be done time to time.
We have our own ambulance service attached with our medical center. The medical center operate 24
hours daily. Once a two days contract basic doctor will be visited our facility. We will keep each and every
elders health record in our medical center.
The elders will insure in the government insurance firm.
We have built separate Temple, Church, Mosque, Kovil in our premises. Periodically we will prepare
religious activities for our elders. Meditation program will be planned every week.
Inside beauty salon will be operated.
Separate villa will be built for investor who invest for this project. The profit share will be provided based
on the profits if we earned end of financial year. This project will not be mainly focused to earn profits.
But this is the corporate social responsibility & this will be enhance spiritual life of the investor and the

Another separate villa will be built for the family of the elders. At once our facility can offer only five
families. (The sum of payment will be taken daily)
We will cultivate required vegetables & required fruits in our lands for our daily consumption & Chemicals
not be used for cultivation process.
Fully equipped kitchen will be operated. We provide customized meals as they requested. When we
preparing meals the nutritious of the foods & the health condition of the elders will be considered. Cool
Room & stock of the food will be maintained for 7 days. The condition & cleanliness of the stock room,
cool room & kitchen will be monitored daily. Periodically PHI will inspect the condition of the Facility.
All the records of the elders should be recorded in the system & the app will be introduced.
Fully equipped Training institute under this facility is constructed. That will be supported to enhance the
staff skills & Knowledge.
Yearly financial audit will be done external party.
If they die, we will immediately informed to their families & funeral will be arranged based on their family
concerns and the government law. All the required religious activities will be done.
In all that we do, we will ensure that our residents are satisfied and are willing to recommend our facility
