Indigenous People - People who have not been influenced by the cultures of colonialism and are
the original people of the country/place and therefor has a different culture then the other
Filipinos, as their cultures are tribal in nature and are passed down customs since the dawn of
history. They also believe in their ancestral religion and government, that’s why they can still
retain their own social norms and laws which are followed by that community. A community that
is granted ownership of their ancestral land which has been owned by them since time
immemorial.
-That they are protected by the government granting them the right for limited self-government
and about the different rights the IP has such as the multi-lingual ballot box and their other rights.
And Mindanao has the highest record of IP’s present.
Ancestral Domain – The right of IP’s to the land that they’ve lived in since the times of
colonialism and the right to develop the said land by the natives, and that their right to not be
evicted without their informed consents. Here the IP can cultivate the land by farming and by
herding livestock and by also hunting.
-Their right to not be evicted at short notice and that only the power of eminent domain with the
full consensus of the village and then they can be relocated, but the members are able return to
their land as soon as the project is finished. But sometimes because of government projects such
as the creation of a new highway inside a remote area sometimes the IP are forced to leave the
area due to the corruption and ignorance of the local LGU.
Unlawful Intrusion – The Unauthorized and unlawful intrusion of any non-IP who has stepped
upon protected and ancestral land of the IP’s ancestral domain. Furthermore the prevention of
taking advantage of IP’s and their Ancestral Domain.
-That non-IP are not allowed on the Ancestral Domain of the IP. Because of ecotourism
sometimes unlawful intrusion inside the ancestral domain of the IP are inevitable disregarding
and sometimes leading to the destruction of some places in the domain and not only that but
illegal loggers doesn’t give any regard towards the rules and will take advantage of the rich
resource environment.
Right of Ownership – The right of the IP to claim any bodies of land and water on the evidence
of having owned, here is also the right of IP to cultivate crops and to herd animals, and that they
are given the right to stay inside their own territory.
-That any IP has the right to stay in their ancestral domain and should not be displaced or evicted
from their land.
B.
Pangyayari – Extra-Judicial killings of IP because of their protest and in defending their
Ancestral domain from government projects.
Karapatan na nilabag-Which violates Section 7-11 of RA #8371 violating the rights of the IP
on their ancestral domain and resulting in murder and harassment from organizations which are
against the IP communities.
Pagpatunay-Proves that even the government who protects the IP community is also the one
who disregards their own laws and will harm and throw chaos at the IP community because of
greed and corrupt doings.

1. I think that the IP deserves their rights, and it should be protected at all cost as they are
what remains of the original filipino peoples custom and culture and that by protecting
them and that they have endured a lot of hardship in many ways as from greedy
corporations trying to steal their land for as long as history
2. In ways that we provided security and laws helping the IP community feel safe deterring
anybody from stealing their land or resources and included in our country by giving them
equal benefits and opening job opportunities to the community.
3. Because of multiculturalism we are able to become more tolerant to other people,
opening up ourselves to new cultures and by learning and understanding to accept their
culture as a sign of respect and because of this, we can be unified as one in a country
were all of us are equal no matter the lineage or family
