Villacruz’s Experiential Learning Paper

Certain things are difficult to grasp until you actually go through them. One example is Entrepreneurship.
Understanding, developing and managing a business is a difficult task. Education and reading about it may increase your
knowledge, but you will never learn until you run your own. Through this subject, I gained invaluable experience in
business management and knowledge.

Being a student from this strand, without having any intentions to pursue any business related course in the future
is a very big challenge for me. Luckily, I have my family, friends and teachers who guided me up until the last day of our
implementation. I must say that I enjoyed every minute that I spent doing the tasks that were given to me. From the
preparation of the materials and tools, and mixing the ingredients up to communicating with our customers. Teamwork
and working with people from different cultures and backgrounds are two important skills I have gained from this
experience. Because this subject requires students to work in groups, it has instilled in them a sense of teamwork. I’ve
learned how to work and progress effectively and efficiently in a diverse group or team. I’ve learned to listen to, respect,
and appreciate everyone’s suggestions as I’ve gathered ideas, decided how to approach the project, and delegated the
workload. Working with people from various cultures and backgrounds appeared to be difficult at first. Furthermore,
because everyone had different schedules, it was hard to find a time slot for group work. However, we were all motivated
to collaborate in order to achieve a common goal.

Another important skill I’ve learned is how to prioritize and manage my time effectively, particularly when it
comes to my major subjects. Time management has always been an area in which I have strived to improve. This subject
also taught me how time-consuming it is to implement a business and analyze ideas and information that will help us grow
the company. As a result, I’ve learned how to prioritize my workload and to avoid cramming.

Overall, my work experience with our company was positive. I was very pleased with how much I had learned
and experienced in the last few months. I still can’t believe I ended up learning a lot more than I expected. I had gained a
wealth of knowledge and insights into starting a business. And even though I have no plans to take a business course, this
business implementation helped me a lot because starting and running a business has always been something that I’ve
wanted to try. Aside from that, teamwork taught me a lot of patience and ways to deal with people from different cultural
backgrounds, personas, and professional experiences.
