Chapter III
Research Methodology
In this chapter present the research methodology used to
describe and evaluate the study of research design,
participants of the study, research instrument, data gathering
procedures and plan for data analysis.

Research design

Since this research study is not just about knowing the impact
of diet on the nutritional status of the respondents but also
aims to look for the pattern, or the dietary or eating habits
of the respondents, it requires a thorough understanding of
their behavior. In that way, a case study was the design used
in conducting this research. The aim of this study is to
accurately describe the impact of diet on nutritional status
through an in-depth examination of the Grade 11 students in
Home Economics. With this study, the researchers can use a
thorough interview, observation, and documentation as their
multiple data collection instruments.

The research design that was used in this study is narrative

research. The main objective is to extract meaningful context
based on the experiences aligned in the Level of Reading
comprehension of the students of San Roque whom currently a
grade 7 in this School Year 2022-2023. Through this type of
research design, the researcher can be able to identify the
life experiences of the respondents aligned in their reading
comprehension level. With this study, the researchers can use a
thorough interview, observation, and documentation as their
multiple data collection instruments.

The study design for this research is a Qualitative research

method for describing and determining the attention span of
Grade 11 students in Blended learning. The research behavior
of this study is considered useful because the observations
and conclusions are useful to the respondents and the
Qualitative research method is used. The purpose of
Qualitative research method is to gain a deeper
understanding of individual participants, including their
opinions, perspective, and attitude. The Qualitative
research methods were developed in the social sciences to
enable researchers to study social and cultural Phenomena.
In contrast to experimental studies, researchers do not
control or manipulate variables, they only observe and
measure them. Therefore, Qualitative research methods do not
try to answer "reasons" and are not used to find
conclusions, make predictions, or establish random
relationships. The purpose is to get a better understanding
through first hand experience, truthful reporting, and quotations of
actual conversations. It aims to understand how the participants
derive meaning from their surroundings, and how their meaning
influences their behavior. Therefore, this study design is being
conducted to determine the relationship between distance
learning and the attention span of Grade 11 students at San
Roque National High School.
The data collection tool includes a survey. Researchers
make sure that the equipment they select is valid and
reliable. Surveys will be the primary tool for this survey.
The purpose is to collect data on the relationship between
distance learning and attention in the 11th grade of San
Roque National High School and to know the hardships and
problems faced with this new normal form of education

Participants of the Study

The respondents of our study compromise 20% of all the

population of Grade 11 students at San Roque National High
School, Bamban, Tarlac. With the total of One hundred students
serve as a respondents, we will determine the current
experience by the Grade 11 students in the new normal Education
System in The Philippines.

Research Instrument

In gathering data, the questionnaire through Google form that

provide and conduct by the researchers will stand as research
instrument in gaining information about the attention span of
the Grade 11 students in senior high school towards blended
learning.

Since we are currently in a pandemic, where Face to face

interview is still not allowed, Google form is one of the
common research instrument used by the researches in gaining
data and asking the respondents different questions.

Data Gathering Procedures.

When distance learning was implemented Students have hard time

adjusting to the new normal education and several difficulties
are face. In a survey conducted by Dangle & Sumaoang (2020),
one of the challenges that emerged in the implementing of
modular distance learning is students struggle with self-
studying. That is why the primary goal of this research study

is to determine the current issues faced by the students in the
new normal form of education, and the first step is to know the
length of time they spent in their studies. The researchers
conduct 10 questions about some issues of the students towards
blended learning that needed to be answered by a few chosen
students in Grade 11, senior high school. For Formality of
doing this research, the researchers also create a letter for
the Principal and for the respondents. After the questionnaire
had been answered, it will then be qualitatively evaluated
properly.

Plan for data analysis.

When the data was gathered, the next step of the researcher is
to analyze and to assess the attention span of Grade 11
students in senior high school in blended learning.
