Reflection Paper (Analyzing Discourse)

Discourse analysis revolves around two things, text analysis and social research
and analysis. But in the mere sense, it focuses on text, and how we will analyze and
interpret it. But sometimes it is referred to as the analysis of language beyond the
phrase, as the larger chunks of language are studied as they flow together. Text is so
helpful to everyone and it connects all of the social aspects of the world. We are
thankful because without the text, we cannot interpret and analyze all of the information
more proficiently.

When we do discourse analysis, we may focus on the purposes and effects of

different languages, cultural effects on communication, values, beliefs, assumptions,
social, historical, political and educational context and topics. But you cannot conclude
immediately what you have read in a transcript, document or soft copies of files. You
need to understand the proper analysis of reading and interpreting text, since it
contributes to every belief and values of every person who is reading those particular
texts. That is what the majority of Philippine society is lacking. Not only in the analysis of
texts, but also in words that they spoke. As a person, I always make sure that
everything that I read or speak passes through various analyses before I tell it to
everyone. And that is what I am trying to teach to every person that I am communicating
for, especially for those who cannot convey what they utter properly.

Proper analysis of texts can contribute to social, historical, political, educational

and so many more beliefs. So as a person, we should be responsible in conveying
information about everything and make sure that we state factual information and not a
fake one.
