DAILY Teacher Learning Area Science 8
LESSON
PLAN Teaching Dates and
Quarter 1st Quarter
Time

Session 1
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates an understanding of Newton’s three laws of motion and uniform
circular motion.
B. Performance The learners shall be able to develop a written plan and implement a “Newton’s Olympics”,
Standards
C. Learning Competencies/
Objectives FORCE, MOTION, AND ENERGY (S8FE-Ia-15); (S8FE-Ia-16); (S8FE-Ia-17)
(Write the LC code for
each)
C.1
Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students are able to:
a) describe how natural phenomena are governed by the three laws of motion;
b) explain the fundamental laws of motion and state their applications; and
c) apply Newton’s law of motion to a different situations.
II. CONTENT

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or ELICIT (Activating Prior Knowledge)
presenting the new lesson.  “WORD UP”

 The class will be stirred into 4 groups. Each group will be given an activity
sheet prepared by the teacher.
 The activity is to identify the term that is being described in each number.
Then the group will look and find each term in the provided puzzle and encircle
the words found.
 Each group will paste their output on the board and present it to the class.
B. Establishing a purpose for
the lesson ENGAGE (Focus on the Topic)

 What is a force?
C. Presenting examples/
instances of the new lesson  Do forces always result in motion?
 What are the conditions for an object to stay at rest, to keep moving at constant
velocity, or to move with increasing velocity?
D. Discussing new EXPLORE (Provide Common Experience)
concepts and practicing new
skills  “Tablecloth Magic”
#1
 In the same set of groups, the students will perform a task wherein they will
place the tablecloth on one edge of the table so that few inches hang from the
end. They will place things on the top of the tablecloth and pull the tablecloth
quickly.
 After performing, each group will answer the questions prepared by the teacher
and write it down on the sheet provided. (See attachment A for the questions)

E. Discussing new
concepts and practicing new
skills
#2
F. Developing mastery
(Leads to Formative EXPLAIN (Discussion/ Analysis)
Assessment)
 How is force related to acceleration?
 How does force affect the different aspects of motion?
 How are the fundamental laws of motion applicable to objects experiencing force?
 What forces are at play in circular motion?
 How will you apply Newton’s law of motion to a different situation?
G. Finding practical applications ELABORATE (Applying and Making Use of Information)
of concepts and skills in daily
living  “Newton’s Laws on the Road”

 With the same group, students will be tasked to answer the activity prepared by
the teacher:
 Newton’s Law on the Road (see attachment B for the activity sheet).

H. Making generalizations and

abstractions about the lesson

I. Evaluating Learning EVALUATE (Measuring Learning)

 “Quick Check” (½ crosswise)

 Another safety feature of cars is the airbag, which automatically inflates when
your cars collide. If you experience a collision with another car or a massive
object, you will experience fewer injuries if you hit an airbag, rather than hitting
your car’s dashboard. Explain the laws of motion in this scenario.

J. Additional activities for EXTEND (Deepening Understanding in New Content)

application or remediation
 Draw or find a picture of any accident where all three laws of motion are relevant, and
state how each law was relevant.
a. Law of Inertia
b. Law of Acceleration
c. Law of Interaction

VI. REMARKS
VII. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned
80% on the formative
assessment
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who continue
to require remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies worked well? Why
did these work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my principal
or supervisor can help me
solve?
G. What innovation or localized
materials did I use/discover
which I wish to share with
other teachers?
