A Detailed Lesson Plan

In Health 4

4th Quarter

I. Objectives: at the end of 50 minutes discussion, the pupils should be able to;
a. Identify disaster preparedness procedure at home, at school, and in
the community;
b. Recognize disasters or emergency situations;
c. Engage effectively in a range of collaboration; and
d. Create survival kit by writing down things needed to survive in an
emergency situations.

II. Subject matter


Topic: Disaster and other emergency situations
Reference: MAPEH Adventures in the 21st century, Google
Materials: Visual aids, videos, pictures, PowerPoint Presentation
Theme: Surviving disaster
Essential Question: How does preparing for disaster keep us safe?
Essential answer: preparedness for these disasters will be a great help
to make you safe, be able to survive, or save lives and properties.

handouts as your basis and for you to
get information about your report,
and you must include the following:

and effect of the disaster”

Storm surge

Storm surge is the sudden rise of


water level caused by a storm or
typhoon. The water is push towards
the shore by strong wind. This creates
big waves can destroy houses and
buildings near the shore

Tsunami

A tsunami is a large ocean wave. This


may be caused by an earthquake or a
volcanic eruption.
A tsunami can wipe out a community
near the shore

Volcanic Eruption

A volcano is an opening earth


surface. Hot liquid rocks, gas, and
ash break out through this opening.
When this happens, it is called
volcanic eruption.
Hot liquid rocks can destroy
everything on its path.
When eruption occurs on the
seafloor, it may cause tsunami.

“You and your group are at home. An


earthquake just struck and you have
to evacuate. When I say go, your : “yes ma'am”
group will write down 10 items that
you need to grab before you leave.
You have 60 seconds to get out safe.
Ready……Go!”

“Now you know why it is important


to be prepared.” (pupils put themselves in the given
situation and do the activity)

contained all of your important

“There is couple of ways to prepare


for the disaster and emergencies. One
is having a plan, and two is building
an emergency kit”

“During emergency situations and


disasters, people tend to panic because
of fear and worry. People panic when
they are not prepared for the
situations. So it is important that we
are prepared, for it lessen fear and
anxiety it may reduce effect of disaster
avoid danger”

“What materials should be in your


survival kit? Bring out paper and pen,
and create your survival kit by writing
down at least 810 things needed to
survive in an emergency situation”
