Coming Out of The Dark
Song by Monster High
I spent my life in the shadows So this is it, back at school still living by his rules
Creepin' round the corners How can I find somewhere to breathe?
Trying to find a home to land I'm not a king, that's him and no one tells him "no"
I've spent my nights feeling lonely I just need a chance to find my wings
Dreaming of what could be
But this is where I take my stand I might be nervous but I'm an optimist!
It's an adventure
I might be nervous, but I'm an optimist Ready to take the risk
It's an adventure, ready to take the risk I see the monsters
Looking for monsters, looking for family They look like family
Could this be what I've been waiting for? This is what I've been waiting for
This is what I've been waiting for
Here I am
Here I am I'm coming out of the dark (Oh, oh)
I'm coming out of the dark (Oh, oh) Not afraid to show my secrets or my scars (Oh, oh)
Not afraid to show my secrets or my scars This is where I'm finally free

My Best Holidays
Last year, my family and I went on the most amazing holiday to Spain. We had
never been to Spain before and my Dad wanted to go there because he said that he was
fed up with sitting around in the damp and gloom.
When we arrived at the villa, it was baking hot. The first thing that Dad did was to
take a shower. He said that he needed to cool off after such a long journey. There was a
swimming pool so we spent a lot of time mucking about in the water or splashing water
over Dad.
One afternoon we went to visit some caves in the hills. Inside the caves were the
most amazing stalagmites and stalactites. They were knobbly and looked like massive,
misshapen spears. Some were like bars in a zoo. The guide tapped some and it was
rather like playing a glockenspiel. In the cave, it was quite cold and by the end of the tour
we were all ready for a bit of sun and ice cream.
On the third day we visited a beach. The waves were just right for surfing, so we
hired some bodyboards. Dad was worried that we would drown so he spent the afternoon
standing at the shore watching us. It was a breeze. The waves were strong enough to
float in on but not too powerful.
One of the best things about the holidays was that Dad was so useless at cooking
that we had to go into the town every night to eat. There was a stall where we could buy
chips and calamari. The calamari was squid cooked in batter, it tasted like rubbery fish.
Once we had eaten, we played on the pinball machines. What a great time!

The Lion's Share

A long time ago, the Lion, the Fox, the Jackal, and the Wolf agreed to go hunting
together, sharing with each other whatever they found.
One day the Wolf ran down a Stag and immediately called his comrades to divide the
spoil.
Without being asked, the Lion placed himself at the head of the feast to do the

"One," he said, counting on his claws, "that is myself the Lion. Two, that's the Wolf,
three, is the Jackal, and the Fox makes four." He then very carefully divided the Stag into
four equal parts.
"I am King Lion," he said, when he had finished, "so of course I get the first part. This
next part falls to me because I am the strongest; and this is mine because I am the
bravest."
He now began to glare at the others very savagely. "If any of you have any claim to

Rainbow
Rainbow is a natural phenomenon in the form of arc spectrum in the sky. It is
caused by the refraction of light through water droplets in the air. Rainbow appears after
the rains. The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
Rainbow is in the form like an arc. However, it actually has a circle shape. The half
of the circle can be seen and the other half can only be seen when we see from the
higher places such as a mountain or when we are on a plane.
The colors are formed as the effect of the refraction and reflection of the sunlight.
After raining, the sunlight touches the raindrops and it is reflected. The sunlight, which is
the white light, will be separated in different degrees and produces different wavelengths.
These wavelengths are accepted by our eyes in the form of different colors or spectrum,
and we call it as a rainbow. As its position is opposite the sun, we need to turn our backs
to the sun to see it. The lower the sun is to the horizon, the higher the arc of the rainbow
will be.

40. What is the main idea of the third paragraph?

A. Rainbow’s colours are formed by the refraction and the reflection of the sunlight.
B. Rainbow has its own colours like red, orange, yellow, blue, indigo, and violet.
C. Rainbow is a natural phenomenon in the form of arc spectrum.
D. Rainbow has an arc that can be seen from a higher places.

About three years ago, I had an experience that made me panic. It was the first
week of me studying in junior high school. My parents called me to ask me to take a bus,
because they could not pick me up.
For I never took a bus before, I asked my teacher which bus I should take. He told
me to take the bus number 2, get off at the fourth stop, and walk to my house from that
place.
I took the bus, and got a seat in the back. I looked at the street through the window.
For I was so tired, I fell asleep. A horn sound woke me up. The bus was about to stop and I
immediately got off. The bus left. Then I realized that I didn’t know whether it was the right
place to stop. I didn’t recognize the street or the buildings around it. I felt sorry not listening
to my father’s advice. He asked me to learn and put a map in my bag. But I never listened
to him.
I almost cried for I only had one thousand rupiahs left. Suddenly, a grey car stopped
in front of me. My uncle got out of that car and came close to me. He just met his client. He
asked me why I was alone there. He laughed knowing what happened and took me home.
In the evening I asked my father to tell how to read a map. And from then on, I
always put a map in my bag. Now I understand why we have to learn a map.

But I never listened
to him.
I almost cried for I only had one thousand rupiah left.
Now I understand why we have to learn a map.

of me studying in junior high school. My parents called me to ask me to take a bus, because
they could not pick me up.
For I never took a bus before, I asked my teacher which bus I should take. He told
me to take the bus number 2, get off at the fourth stop, and walk to my house from that
place.
I took the bus, and got a seat in the back. I looked at the street through the window.
