॥ r̥ṇa vimōcana nr̥siṁha stōtram ॥

Runa Vimochana Narasimha

Stotram is the Slokam in
praise and as prayer to Sri
Narasimha Swamy, the
fourth incarnation of Sri
Maha Vishnu. “Runa” means
debts. It is believed that
reciting of this Slokam shall
alleviate the debts of the
devotee. Here, the debt does
not denote mere pecuniary
debts but also denote the
debts of Karma due to the
cycle of birth and death in
the worldly life.

Runa Vimochana Narasimha

Stotram comprises of ten
stanzas each describing the attributes of Sri Narasimha Swamy. The
additional last stanza mentions the benefits of reading and reciting this
Stotram. It is believed that Sri Adi Sankaracharya had composed this
Slokam.

यानम् / dhyānaṁ.

वागीशा य य वदने ल मीय य च व िस

य या ते ुदये संिव ं ु संहं भजे

vāgīsā yasya vadanē lakṣmīr yasya-ca vakṣasi |

yasyāstē hr̥dayē saṁvittaṁ nr̥siṁhaṁ bhajē ||

Sri Narasimham is eloquent; He has the appearance to kill (the asura); He

has Sri Lakshmi in His heart. I strive after Him in my perception and
understanding. I always meditate upon and chant Sri Narasimham.

देवता काय िस यथ सभा थंभ समु वम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (1)

dēvatā kārya siddhyarthaṁ sabhās-tambha samud-bhavam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 1 ||

You have emerged from the pillar in the royal hall to fulfill the desires of the
Devas.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

ल यािलि गत वामा गं भ ानां वरदायकम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (2)

lakṣmyā-liṅgita vāmāṅgaṁ bhaktānāṁ vara-dāyakam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 2 ||

You have embraced Goddess Lakshmi on Your left side. You bestow the
wishes of Your devotees.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

आ मालाधरं श ख च ा जायुध धा रणम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (3)

āntra-mālādharaṁ śaṅkha-cakrāb-jāyudha dhāriṇaṁ |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 3 ||

You wear the intestines of the demon (Hiranyakasipu) as garland. You hold
the conch and holy wheel as Your weapons.

 मरणात् सवपाप ं क ज ु िवश नाशनम्
ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (4)

smaraṇāt sarva-pāpaghnaṁ kadruja-viṣa-nāśanam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 4 ||

Just the thought and memory of You shall alleviate all the sins and their
effects. You remove the poisonous effects of the snakes.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

संहनादेन महता द दि त भय नाशनम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (5)

siṁha-nādēna mahatā digdantī bhaya-nāśanam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 5 ||

You have the fiery roar of the lion. You have great teeth. You provide
sanctuary in all the directions. You diminish the fears.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

लाद वरदं ीशं दै ये र िवदा रणम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (6)

prahlāda varadaṁ śrīśaṁ daityēśvara vidāriṇam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 6 ||

You have bestowed the boons to Prahlad. You are the Lord and consort of
Sri Mahalakshmi. You have made the demon king (Hiranyakasipu) into
shreds.

ू र है पीिडतानां भ ानामभय दम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (7)

krūr agrahaiḥ pīḍitānāṁ bhaktānām-abhayapradam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 7 ||

You provide protection and sanctuary to Your devotees who suffer from the
planetary (re)alignments.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

वेद वेदा त य येशं ा द वि दतम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (8)

vēda vēdānta-yajñēśaṁ brahma rudrādi vanditam |

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṁ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 8 ||

You are the Lord of the Vedas, Vedanthas and Yagnas (Homam). Sri
Brahma and Sri Rudra worship You.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate
my debts and obligations.

िव या िवजय दायकं , पु पो ा द वधनम्

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (9)

vidhyā vijaya dāyakaṃ, putra poutrādi vardhanam

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṃ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 9 ||

You bestow education, victory and progeny to your sincere devotees.
Sri Narasimha, the great valorous God, I sincerely worship you to alleviate

भुि मुि दायकं , सव िस ीकर नृणां

ी नृ संहं महावीरं नमािम ऋणमु ये (10)

bhukti mukti pradāyakaṃ, sarva siddhīkara nṛṇāṃ

śrī nr̥siṁhaṁ mahāvīraṃ namāmi r̥ṇa muktayē || 10 ||

You bestow happiness and liberation. You bless us all the Siddhies.

my debts and obligations.

य इदं पठते िन यं ऋणमोचन सि तम्

अ ुणे जायते स यो धनं शी मवा ुयात् (11)

ya idhaṁ paṭathe nithyaṁ ṛṇamocana sañjitam

anruṇe jāyate satyo dhanaṃ śīgram-avāpnuyātu || 11 ||

The persons who read and recite this Runa Vimochana Stotram shall get
their debts removed and they will soon be bestowed with wealth.

Runa due to 5 Types of Droham’s

We usually think that Runam (debt) is related to only money. But that is not
accurate. There are 5 kinds of mistakes (Droham’s) that are done by human
beings in their present life or past lives. The karma of these mistakes haunts
in the form of Runam (debt) or Runa. The five kinds of Mistakes (Droham’s)
are 1) Bhuta Droham 2) Rushi Droham 3) Manushya Droham 4) Pitru
Droham and 5) Daiva Droham.

Bhuta Droham – Mistakes related to other animals and the environment

– This will result in diseases.

Rushi Droham – Intentionally cheating deceiving sadhus, sanyasis, your

guru, and anyone following a dharmic path. – This will result in
Psychological problems and fears, etc.

Manushya Droham – Cheating or deceiving fellow humans – This will

result in enemies in life.

Pitru Droham – Not performing karmas to departed ancestors, not taking

care of parents, abortions, etc. – This will result in Graha Peeda’s.

Daiva Droham – Robbing temple lands, Jewels, etc. – This will result in
severe financial problems.

By chanting Runa Vimochana Narasimha Stotram one can get relieved of this
accumulated Runa and its associated suffering.
