1 Trends and Challenges


As enterprises advance digital transformation, an increasing number of IT and
CT systems and devices are widely used in the production and office systems
of enterprises. These systems and devices have become an indispensable
component of enterprise production and operations.
A large number of ICT devices and models are difficult to manage and
maintain. System faults may interrupt enterprise production and operations,
or even cause complaints from end users and lower employee and customer
satisfaction. Ensuring stable and reliable ICT systems has become a top priority
of IT O&M departments. What can be done to effectively manage and
maintain ICT systems and devices of multiple types and vendors? What can
be done to quickly detect and resolve system faults and problems? What can
be done to optimize resource and system configurations to improve resource
utilization and ICT system robustness? These challenges are key to enterprise
ICT O&M.
2 Overview
eSight is an integrated O&M and monitoring solution for enterprise customers.
eSight can centrally monitor and manage enterprise IT and CT devices and
systems, including servers, storage devices, switches, routers, WLAN devices,
firewalls, GPON networks, and video surveillance devices. eSight provides
various functions (including centralized management, visualized monitoring,
and intelligent analysis) for these devices and systems to help enterprises
effectively manage complex IT and CT devices and systems, monitor faults and
KPIs in the systems, and analyze the resource usage trend of devices. This
ensures stable running ofenterprise ICT systems and improves enterprise ICT
O&M efficiency.

3 Highlights
Centralized management
Management of multiple device types: eSight can centrally manage
multiple device types, such as servers, storage devices, network
devices, WLAN devices, GPON devices, and cameras.
Integrated device management: Device information, alarms, KPIs, and
hardware components are centrally displayed.
On-demand deployment of a centralized platform: A centralized resource
management, alarm monitoring, performance monitoring, and report
analysis platform is provided.

Visualized monitoring
Multi-dimensional monitoring: eSight provides alarm panels,
performance analysis, and network-wide topology views to detect
device faults in real time.
Scenario-based monitoring: Scenario-based dashboard, large-screen
monitoring and service view enable users to comprehensively
understand the ICT system status.
E2E fault monitoring: fault diagnosis tools such as network quality
diagnosis and video quality diagnosis technologies.

Intelligent analysis
Report customization: A drag-and-drop report customization tool
facilitates visualized design and eliminates the need for secondary
development.
Out-of-the-box (OTTB): O&M experience and prese s common reports
(such as resource, alarm, and performance reports) are provided to
meet routine O&M requirements.
Self-service data analysis: Year-on-year, period-on-period, top N,
and category-based summary and statistics analysis methods and
various charts (such as bar, pie, and curve charts) are provided.

4 Architecture
eSight boasts a service-oriented architecture and features cost effectiveness,
high reliability, scalability, and ultra-large-scale network management.
eSight provides open integration services, O&M analysis services, device
management services, basic management services, and southbound device
access services.

5 External Interfaces
eSight provides various external interfaces, including southbound device access
interfaces, northbound integration interfaces, administrator login interfaces,
SMS server interfaces, and authentication server integration interfaces for
enterprises to centrally manage ICT devices and implement flexible secondary
development to meet differentiated service requirements.

6 Functions
6.1 eSight Platform
The eSight platform provides a centralized view, resource, topology, fault,
performance, and report platform for devices from multiple vendors. It also
provides northbound alarm, resource, topology, and performance interfaces
to help customers deploy an exclusive, centralized management system,
reduce O&M costs, and improve O&M efficiency.
6.1.1 Resource Management
eSight resource management helps O&M personnel quickly add various ICT
devices or resources to eSight for centralized management or maintenance.
The major functions are as follows:
Resource grouping: Resources (such as servers, network devices,
and storage devices) connected to eSight can be managed by type
or group.
The resource groups feature provides security authorization and
alarm filter functions with the group.
Link management: Link management displays links between network
devices, servers, video devices, microwave devices, and PON devices,
and supports link discovery, monitoring, and configuration.
Power-on and power-off management: Servers and storage devices
connected to eSight can be remotely powered on or off by one click.
Device lifespan management: Enterprises can learn about the lifespan
information of eSight and the managed devices on the live network,
analyze the aging of devices and software, and update devices or
upgrade software in a timely manner, reducing network risks and
manual maintenance costs.

6.1.2 Centralized Alarm Management


eSight alarm management enables O&M personnel to monitor and manag
e alarms or events reported by the system or managed objects (MOs). Alarm
management provides various monitoring and handling rules and sends fault
notifications to O&M personnel, helping them monitor, locate, and handle IT
and CT device or system faults and ensuring normal service running. The
major functions are as follows:
Collects data from multiple domains and vendors, including NE
alarms from lower-layer third-party systems.
The alarms are displayed on the alarm panel.
Provides diversified alarm filtering methods, which enable O&M
personnel to filter concerned alarms and improve monitoring
efficiency.
Enables flexible alarm rule configurations to associate and compress
a large number of alarms, reducing alarm noises and achieving
precise monitoring.
Categorizes alarms into critical, major, minor, and warning, helping
O&M personnel quickly identify alarm severities and implement
corresponding handling policies.

6.1.3 Centralized Topology


eSight topology management is used to build and manage the topology of
the entire network to reflect the networking and running status of NEs. Users
can monitor the running status of the entire network in real time in the
topology view. eSight supports the following topology views:

Physical topology: A topology view that displays NEs, links, and


subnets on the entire network.
Customized topology: A cross-subnet topology view that displays NEs
and links on part of the entire network. O&M personnel can
customize a topology with the managed NEs to understand how
these NEs are deployed across subnets and precisely monitor the NEs.

6.1.4 Performance Monitoring


eSight performance monitoring can collect, aggregate, and analyze performance
data (such as CPU usage and memory usage) of ICT devices and systems (such as
servers, network devices, and storage devices), helping administrators understand
the health status and performance trend of the resources
Users can centrally view real-time performance data of network-wide
resources and intuitively locate devices with performance exceptions
or threshold-crossing alarms, ensuring normal network running.
The performance trend of each resource is comprehensively analyzed
to identify resources that are overloaded or underloaded for a long
time, summarize, and plan resource distribution and updates to
improve device resource utilization.

6.1.5 Large Screen Monitoring

eSight large screen monitoring uses visualization technologies to deploy a


large-screen O&M center as required, helping enterprises detect resource
statuses in real time, understand the configurations and structure of ICT devices
or systems, report or make decisions on ICT deployment, and communicate
about ICT technologies. The major functions are as follows:
Creates, edits, and deletes large-screen content, and sets themes,
backgrounds, and resolution.
Provides various preset, OTTB large-screen monitoring templates
based on Huawei's project experience to help enterprises quickly
deploy a large screen.

6.1.6 Report Platform

The eSight report platform dynamically displays service data reports in various
charts, tables, dimensions, and metrics. This helps administrators quickly, flexibly
analyze data in self-service mode, monitor the KPI health status of ICT devices or
systems, and quickly learn the overall health status of services for O&M decision
-making.

Preset report: eSight provides various preset report templates to


meet enterprise requirements.
Report customization: eSight allows users to drag icons to quickly
customize reports, including preset service widgets, tables, line charts
, pie charts, bar charts, images, and rich text.

Report export: eSight allows users to export reports and the data of
a single chart in a report in Excel or PDF format.
Periodic report: The eSight report platform allows users to set periodic
tasks based on the period specified by the customer and send reports
in the specified format to specified personnel.

6.1.7 IP Address Management


The IP address management service manages the entire lifecycle of IP addresses,
including creating, assigning, reclaiming, and querying IP addresses. This feature
helps O&M personnel to centrally manage and monitor IP addresses, improving
network security and the usage of IP addresses.

IP group management: O&M personnel group IP addresses by


department, office area, or organization structure for management.
Then, create or import IP subnets under IP groups.
IP status visualization: O&M personnel view the IP address usage
in the monitoring system on the overview page, including the overall
IP address usage, IP address allocation rate, and exceptions.
Idle IP detection: O&M personnel perform idle IP address detection
to detect IP addresses not used within a specified period after
allocation and reclaim idle IP addresses in a timely manner, saving
IP addresses.

6.2 Network Management


The eSight platform provides a centralized view, resource, topology, fault,
performance, and report platform for devices from multiple vendors.
It also provides northbound alarm, resource, topology, and performance
interfaces to help customers deploy an exclusive, centralized management
system, reduce O&M costs, and improve O&M efficiency.

6.2.1 Network Device Management


eSight provides an integrated dashboard of network devices (including
switches, routers, firewalls, and ACs).
This dashboard displays key information, such as devices, components,
simulation panels, and running statuses, helping O&M personnel quickly
learn about devices, identify, locate, and rectify device faults.

6.2.2 Configuration File Management


If a configuration file is damaged by device faults, a backup configuration
file can be used to quickly restore the file and services on the device.
Users can also view configuration changes. After a configuration file is backed
up, the system automatically compares the files to provide the configuration
change information. The major functions are as follows:

Configuration backup: Configuration files change with device services.


Backing up device configuration files promptly can improve service
security and reliability.
Configuration restoration: If a fault occurs on a device, the backup
configuration file can be uploaded to the device to quickly restore
the device configurations and services.
Configuration change: Two configuration files can be compared to
identify configuration changes.

6.2.3 Configuration Tools


A large number of devices need to be configured during network deployment
. Manually preparing scripts based on the network plan is time-consuming
and error-prone. Administrators can create a template and deliver configuration
tasks to devices on eSight in batches in the wizard. This eliminates the need
for configuring devices or delivering tasks one by one, and improves device
configuration efficiency. The major functions are as follows:
Template-based delivery: Users can customize or import a template
to deliver configurations to devices in batches in wizard mode.
Planning table-based delivery: You can download the command
planning template and fill in service configuration commands to
deliver different commands to multiple devices in batches.
6.2.4 Device Software Management
The Network Device Software Upgrade Service can be installed to use the
network device software management function to upgrade NE software.
A comprehensive upgrade preparation procedure guides users to create
upgrade projects and tasks. Various operations during the upgrade (including
filtering,status statistics collection, and batch operations) are optimized to
improve upgrade experience.

6.2.5 Network Quality Analysis


The eSight network quality analysis (SLA) proactively sends diagnosis packets
between network devices based on the NQA protocol to measure KPIs, such
as the packet loss rate, delay, and jitter. The measurement results can be
used to evaluate network quality and provide a reliable basis for network
fault diagnosis and performance optimization.

6.2.6 Terminal Management


Various management functions are provided, such as terminal discovery
and monitoring. Terminal resource management allows users to learn about
terminal access information in a timely manner,quickly locate faults, and
detect unauthorized terminals, improving the security of using terminal
resources.The major functions are as follows:
Centralized terminal management: Connected terminals can be
quickly discovered. Users can view the online terminal rate and the
records of terminals going online and offline.
Quick fault locating: Terminal information is displayed from multiple
dimensions, including the terminal MAC address, terminal IP address
, and device port, helping users quickly locate terminals.
Terminal security control and management: Unauthorized terminals
are quickly detected based on the user-configured whitelist, and alarms
are reported in a timely manner.
6.2.7 WLAN Management
Region planning and resource management (including WACs and APs) are
supported. Networks are monitored based on user experience, allowing
administrators to clearly understand the running statuses of wireless networks
and perform efficient O&M on wireless networks.

Dashboard: Displays the overview, top AP statistics, traffic trend, user


trend, and top region statistics, helping O&M personnel quickly learn
the overall status of wireless networks.
Resource management: Centrally manages AC resources, AP resources,
RF devices, WACs, SSIDs, and users on wireless networks, and displays
resource information and status on an integrated dashboard.
Region monitoring: Displays experience KPIs (such as the AP distribution
, coverage range, and AP monitoring status) on the GIS map or AP
layout based on end users, improving AP O&M efficiency.
6.2.8 Network Traffic Analysis
The network traffic analysis service can monitor network-wide traffic in real
time and provide multi-dimensional top n traffic analysis reports, helping
users detect abnormal traffic on the network and network bandwidth usage
in time. And, improves the efficiency of network bandwidth planning and
helps users quickly locate network exceptions.

The network traffic analysis service can display network traffic statues
by device, interface, application, host and conversation to facilitate
network bandwidth planning.

The network traffic analysis service provides convenient, cost-effective


top N traffic trend analysis to allow users to detect network traffic
usage in a timely manner and plan networks based on traffic distribution
. This facilitates transparent network management, including traffic
visualization, fault locating, and planning
6.3 PON Management
Alarm, topology, and performance management are provided for PON network
resources. Service planning can be performed for PON terminals (including MxUs
and ONTs) when OLTs are deployed. Services can be automatically provisioned
based on the preset ZTP policies, accelerating the deployment of PON networks.

6.3.1 PON Resource Management


Basic NE information, NE statuses, and KPIs of OLTs and ONUs on PON
networks can be centrally monitored.

6.3.2 Rapid Deployment


ZTP policies and scenario templates are used to plan and design services on
the network under construction. After the network is deployed, services are
automatically delivered to PON devices based on the service plan in the ZTP
policies and scenario templates.

6.4 Server Management


eSight server management monitors server running and component statuses
in real time and allows users to configure, deploy, and upgrade firmware in
batches on the GUI, simplifying server O&M management and improving
O&M efficiency for enterprises.

6.4.1 Server Hardware Monitoring


eSight monitors the dynamic information and names, IP addresses, online
statuses, health statuses, types, models, descriptions, and information update
time of server components, such as CPUs, memory, disks, fans, and power
supply units (PSUs). eSight also monitors the static information about PSUs,
fans, CPUs, memory, hard disks, mainboards, and switch modules.

6.4.2 Server Configuration and Deployment


eSight allows users to upgrade, deploy, and configure servers connected to
eSight in batches, simplifying O&M management, reducing O&M costs, and
improving O&M efficiency. The major functions are as follows:

Firmware upgrade: Users can create an upgrade plan online and select
the devices to be upgraded and the upgrade packages as prompted. If
the device firmware version is not the version specified in the upgrade
plan, the plan is automatically implemented to upgrade the firmware
to the version specified in the plan.

6.4.3 Server OS Management


OSs deployed on servers can monitor server KPIs (such as the CPU usage,
memory usage, and disk allocation rate) to eliminate blind spots and facilitate
integrated monitoring of both server software and hardware.

6.5 Storage Management


Storage devices (enterprise and distributed storage) and FC switches can be added
to eSight for centralized management. eSight provides basic monitoring functions,
such as alarm, topology, performance, capacity, and hardware monitoring, for
connected storage devices and FC switches, and visualizes monitoring results in
the overview, reports, or on a large screen.

6.5.1 Storage Device Management

Storage device information can be monitored, including the storage


device list, alarms, and hardware of each storage device.
FC switch information can be monitored, including the FC switch list,
alarms and ports of each FC switch, and device alarms can be handled.

6.5.2 Storage Performance Management


Storage device KPIs are monitored, such as the I/O latency, IOPS, bandwidth
, disk usage, and CPU usage, helping users learn about the performance
status of storage devices in real time.

6.5.3 Storage Capacity Management


Capacity information about disk domains, storage pools, LUNs, and file
systems is monitored to help O&M personnel analyze how to optimize storage
space configurations.

6.6 Video Surveillance Management


IVSs (IVS3800 series, IVS9000 series, CloudIVS series, and VCN 30X0 series)
and PowerCube devices can be connected to eSight. Peripheral units (PUs),
such as SDCs, ITS800, and IVS1800, cameras, and decoders can be connected
to eSight on IVSs. eSight provides basic management functions, such as alarm
, topology, and performance management, for connected devices and visualizes
monitoring results on a large screen, the camera quality map, IVS map, or in
reports.
6.6.1 Video Surveillance Platform Management
The networking of domains, clusters, CloudIVS, and VCNs can be displayed
in a topology, helping users centrally monitor the load of video devices on
the entire network and ensuring stable running of video services.

6.6.2 Camera Management


Statistics on camera distribution, online/offline statuses, and video quality
can be displayed by province, city, or district on the GIS map.

6.6.3 Intelligent Analysis


Intelligent algorithms are used to analyze currently, frequently, permanently,
and periodically offline cameras, helping O&M personnel to quickly identify
and locate faults.

6.6.4 Fault Demarcation and Locating


Exclusive topology restoration technologies are used to diagnose faults (such
as offline cameras, camera quality problems, and record loss) based on the
device statuses, port statuses, alarm information, and KPIs on links.

6.7 Hyper-converged Infrastructure Management


eSight centrally manages hyper-converged infrastructures FusionCube 500 and
1000H. eSight provides basic monitoring functions, including alarm, resource,
and hardware monitoring, for connected hyper-converged infrastructures,
simplifying O&M management.

6.8 Application Management


Application management allows users to connect multiple types of
applications to eSight, including web servers, application servers (such as
Tomcat), databases, and operating systems (such as Linux and Windows Server
). eSight remotely manages connected application resources (including the
alarms and performance of the resources) in visualized mode to overcome
application monitoring and management challenges for enterprises.

6.8.1 OS Management
Provides unified management capabilities for Linux, Windows Server, and
ESXi Server.Allows users to view basic operating system information and
monitor CPU/memory usage, disk usage, NIC, and process list.

6.8.2 Database Management


Provides unified management capabilities for databases such as SQL Server
, Oracle, MySQL, Zenith, and DM.Allows users to view basic database
information and monitor the performance of tablespaces, number of connections
, and connection response time.

6.8.3 Application Management


Provides Tomcat, Nginx, and common web management capabilities.
Monitors the system connectivity and response time of applications.

6.8.4 Service View


eSight supports full-stack visualization of application dependencies.
The service view visualizes the relationships between applications, operating
systems, virtual resources, and hardware, and centrally displays faults, helping
users analyze correlated problems and improving the efficiency of handling
application problems.

6.9 Microwave Management


Microwave devices (RTN 510 and RTN560A) and PowerCube devices can be
connected to eSight for centralized management. Basic management functions
are provided, such as alarm, topology, and performance management. Other
functions are provided to improve device O&M efficiency, such as device user
management, batch device upgrade, and batch device file configuration.

6.10 Terminal Management


The terminal management service allows third-party CPEs to be connected to
eSight. And, support upload mediation packages to manage new third-party
CPEs.
The terminal management service allows O&M personnel to monitor 5G
terminals in real time and formulate a centralized terminal monitoring and
management solution for enterprise campuses

7 Deployment and Application


7.1.1 Single-Node System
All eSight functions are deployed on the same server.
The single-node deployment solution is applicable to small networks with
low reliability requirements.

7.1.2 Two-Node Cluster


All eSight functions are deployed on two servers.
The two-node cluster deployment mode is applicable to scenarios with high
reliability requirements. There are two types of two-node eSight clusters: local
HA system and remote HA system.

7.1.3 Cluster
eSight functions are deployed on multiple servers, and each server is a node.
At least three nodes are required.
This mode is applicable to large networks with high reliability requirements.
