PERFORMANCE TASK
Nature and Culture: The Rich Biodiversity, Literature and Art of East Asia

I. OVERVIEW
In this module, you will revisit all the topics discussed from modules 1-3 in English,
Science and MAPEH (Art). Specifically, you must demonstrate your knowledge,
understanding, and proficiency on the concepts of biodiversity, entertainment text, and
East-Asian art.
II. TIME FRAME
This will be accomplished from January 4-8, 2021 and should be submitted on January
11, 2021. If you will encounter any difficulty along the way, do not hesitate to message
me through my email (jbermas@usi.edu.ph/ kpato@usi.edu.ph/ adocot@usi.edu.ph/
jnaurina@usi.edu.ph/ tlopez@usi.edu.ph) from 8:00 -11:30 am and 1:00-4:30 pm every
Monday-Thursday, and from 8:00-11:30 am only every Friday.
III. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

 Please return only your outputs and the rubric.


 Do not forget to write your name and section.
 Read the rubric thoroughly before you do the task.
 Write your entertainment text and create your poster on a separate long-sized bond
paper.
 If you were to submit outputs that were copied from your classmates and on the
internet, those would be invalidated, and you would automatically get a failing grade
on this task.

IV. STANDARDS

A. CONTENT STANDARD

The learner demonstrates understanding of: biodiversity in East-Asia, East Asian


literature as an art form inspired and influenced by nature, relationship of visual,
sensory, and verbal signals in both literary and expository texts, and appropriate
grammatical signals or expressions suitable to patterns of idea development.

B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD
The learner composes a brief and creative entertainment speech and an artwork
about the efforts of the various communities to protect and conserve endangered
and economically important species in East-Asia.
C. VALUE STANDARD
The learner demonstrates a social commitment by showing a deep willingness to
partake in conserving endangered and economically important species in East-
Asia.
V. LEARNING TARGETS
In this performance task, you must be able to:
 write an entertainment text about conserving the biodiversity (flora and fauna) in
East Asia; and
 incorporate the design, form, and spirit of East Asian artifacts and objects to one's
creation.

VI. TASK (40pts.)


East-Asian countries such as Japan, China, and Korea have been observing the Tripartite
Policy Dialogue to push for a harmonious relationship of man with nature. This year, the
dialogue will focus on promoting and conserving biodiversity in the region.
As the head of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the
Philippines, you were invited by the Tripartite Policy Dialogue Committee to give a speech
about the state of flora and fauna in the country.
You are tasked to compose an entertainment text about the richness of the biodiversity in
the country that is meant to inspire the East-Asian countries to strengthen their conservation
and preservation of endangered species. You are also tasked to give your opinion on how the
East-Asian countries could protect and preserve their biodiversity through a poster.
Your outputs must consider the following standards: (written) introduction, content and
