ACTIVITY 1 (Week 1)

INTRODUCTION

I. Introduction

This lesson will cover the Vision, Mission of the University as well as the Goals of the College of
Home Economics and Program Objectives of the Department of Home Economics. The Grading
System as well as the Class Policy and Overview of the Course to include its requirements will also
be discussed as an introductory topic to this lesson. Being the only premier State University in
Region IX, WMSU will continuously provide the avenue to open the doorways of opportunities to
students here and abroad guided by its Mission, Vision, Goals and Objectives.

II. Objectives
At the end of this activity, you can:

1. Exhibit awareness of the University Vision, Mission, College Goals, and Program objectives.
2. Identify the University's Vision & Mission as well as Goals of the College & Program Objectives
3. Demonstrate knowledge and concept of the VMGO related to the chosen course.

Vision. The University of Choice for higher learning with strong research orientation that
produces professionals who are socially responsive to and responsible for human development,
ecological sustainability and peace and security within and beyond the region

Mission. The Western Mindanao State University, set in a culturally diverse environment, shall
pursue a vibrant socio-economic agenda that include:
• A relevant instruction paradigm in the education and training of competent and responsive
human resource for societal and industry needs.
• A home for intellectual formation that generates knowledge for people empowerment, social
transformation and sustainable development.
• A hub where science, technology and innovation flourish, enriched by the wisdom of the
Arts and Letters, and Philosophy.

COLLEGE OF HOME ECONOMICS

Mission: The College of Home Economics is the lead provider of competent, holistic and world
class quality human resources imbued with industry driven lifelong learning skills in the areas of
Home Economics, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Hospitality Management.

Home Economics Department Goal: The Bachelor of Science in Home Economics aims to
develop highly competent Home Economist in the community, Home Economics Industries,
Entrepreneurship and in Academe.

CLASSROOM POLICY

ATTENDANCE
When attending the class, bear mind

1. Observe PUNCTUALITY in attending the class, you should be inside the classroom or sign
in the MS Teams 10 minutes before the time.
2. You are only given 15 minutes to come in late, with valid reason.
3. Should there be a need to miss the class, please inform the concerned professor ahead of time
(as much as possible).
4. Based on the WMSU Code you are only allowed to have at least 20% absences, which is
equivalent to three (3) absences. Beyond that, you will be asked to bring your parents/guardian
and be refereed to the Guidance Counselor

GENERAL GUIDELINES

1. Treat your instructor and classmates with respect.


2. This is a 2 hour class wherein we only meet once a week. With this, you are encourage to
always participate in any class activities/ discussion..
3. Make sure to study your lesson and do your activity/exercise and submit it on scheduled date.
4. Active participation in the discussion is highly expected to everyone in the class, since it is
one of the basis of the grading system.
5. Use clear and consice language when asked to explain or discuss.
6. Be polite at all times, learn to listen well when one is talking.
7. Should there be any doubts or unclear statements, do not hesitate to ask questions.
