INTRODUCTION

2 Introduction
This document describes the architecture and functions of the ETOP1 and
ETOP1-F unit.
The unit ETOP1 is a 1-slot wide service unit of
FOX61x with 12 Fast and/or Gigabit Ethernet ports for access to the chassis
switch function. It provides two backplane interfaces for all FOX61x sub-
racks.
ETOP1-F is the name of the specific HW version of the ETOP1 that does not
require active ventilation in the subrack. Due to the bigger heat sinks this unit
type requires 2 slots.
This manual describes ESW Version etop1_r1d.

2.1 Feature licences

Part of the FOX functionality is subject to feature licences. For more informa-
tion on feature licences please refer to 1KHW002459 FOX61x Release
Notes.

DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS

4 Description of functions
A ETOP1, ETOP1-F unit plugged into a FOX61x subrack and enables the
node to deliver Ethernet services.

4.1 Traffic prioritisation

Units of the type ETOP1, ETOP1-F support traffic prioritisation using Class
of Service (CoS) handling according to IEEE 802.1p. For a detailed descrip-
tion please refer to 1KHW002460 FOX61x Product Features and Character-
istics, section “Traffic prioritisation”.
The mapping of the user priority levels (Class of Service, CoS) to the 4 traffic
classes (queues) is implemented according to IEEE, 802.1D, section 7.7.3
and is shown in Table 9: User priority (CoS) to traffic class (queue) mapping
on the ETOP1, ETOP1-F unit (on page 17).
