Analytical exposition text

good afternoon everyone, good afternoon ms. lina. Previously, thank you for giving our group the
opportunity to make a presentation today. so today we will discuss or review again about analytical
exposition text. Here we will discuss five main materials, first is the meaning of analytical exposition
text, second is the structure of the analytical exposition text, third is the language features of the
analytical exposition text, fourth is the social function of the analytical exposition text and last but not
least we will give an example of the analytical exposition text. The first material will be delivered by Fariz
and Haikal

Pengertian

So Analytical exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s opinion on phenomena or issue
happening around him or her.

To make the persuasion stronger, the speaker or writer gives some arguments as the fundamental
reasons why something is the case. And Exposition text can be found in scientific articles, journals,
magazines or mass media

Struktur

So in analytical exposition text there are four structures, that is

First, Thesis, thesis is the part that tells the reader about the main topic and point of view of the writer’s

Second, Argument, argument is an opinion that supports the main topic that has been presented before

And third, Conclution, conclution is a reaffirmation of the writer's opinion on the main topic

Exm : he prays five time a day

Second, Mental verb

Exm : I belive, I prefer , I agree

Third, Connecting word

Exm : Not only, also, firstly, secondly

And last, Casual conjunction

Exm : because, for that reason, in that case, otherwise
Social Function

Social function from analytical exposition text is

To convince the reader that the topics presented was an important topic to be discussed or gained
attention by way of providing arguments or opinions that support the main idea or topic

Contoh Analytical Exposition

and finally, we are at the end of the material. here is an example of an analytical exposition text, first I
will read the text then I will explain the parts and the language features in it

Cars should be banned in the city

( THESIS ) Cars should be banned in the city. As we all know, cars create pollution, and cause a lot of
road deaths and other accidents.

( ARGUMENTS )Firstly, cars, as we all know, contribute to most of the pollution in the world. Cars emit a
deadly gas that causes illnesses such as bronchitis, lung cancer, and ‘triggers’ of asthma. Some of these
illnesses are so bad that people can die from them.

( ARGUMENTS )Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians wander everywhere and cars commonly hit
pedestrians in the city, which causes them to die. Cars today are our roads biggest killers.

( ARGUMENTS )Thirdly, cars are very noisy. If you live in the city, you may find it hard to sleep at night,
or concentrate on your homework, and especially talk to someone.

( CONCLUTION )In conclusion, I prefer cars should be banned from the city for the reasons listed.

in the first paragraph is the thesis section, then in the second, third, and fourth paragraphs are the
arguments section, and in the last paragraph is the conclusion section.

here there are four language features, the first is the simple present tense found in the sentence ....
then the second is the mental verb found in the word .... the third is the connecting word found in the
word ... then the last is the casual conjunction found in sentence ...
