The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution or the February
revolution, was a series of popular demonstrations in the Philippines, mostly in Metro
Manila, from the 22nd to the 25th. electoral fraud The non-violent revolution led to the
resignation of Ferdinand Marcos, the end of his 20-year dictatorship, and the restoration of
democracy in the Philippines. Most of the demonstrations were held between 22 and 25
February 1986 in Epifanio de los Santos Avenue, more commonly known as EDSA, in
Metro Manila. The protests, fueled by resistance and opposition after years of rule by
President Marcos and his successors,resulted in the ruler, his family and some of their
supporters fleeing to Hawaii; and Ninoy Aquino's widow, Corazon Aquino, was inaugurated
as the eleventh President of the Philippines.
