EASTMONT BAPTIST CHURCH

// MAY 14, 2023 // VOLUME 32 // NUMBER 10

FRANK BOWLING
From Your Pastor FBOWLING@EASTMONT.ORG

Have you ever audibly answered what was intended as a rhetorical question and then noticed the looks of the
people around you? You know — those looks that, if someone were retelling the question and your answer,
would include the facepalm emoji? In Amos 3:3 the Lord uses one such question, “Do two walk together unless
they have agreed to meet?” It’s one of those times that the answer seems so obvious. And the principle is that
those two must share the same purpose, passion, and direction.
A few years ago the International Mission Board published an article that highlighted 4 characteristics which
caused the early church to spread like wildfire. They said that the early church in the book of Acts possessed
these traits: a faith that produced obedience, a passion that produced unity, a desperation that produced
prayer, and the Spirit who produced power. I know that we desire the same spreading of the Gospel throughout
the River Region and to the ends of the earth that was seen in the life of the early followers of Jesus. And if this
is our desire then maybe we should return to the question in Amos 3:3, “Do two walk together, unless they have
agreed to meet?”
On Sunday, May 21st, at 5:00 p.m., we will have the inaugural meeting of what we are calling our Eastmont
Ministry Celebration. The design for this time is that it will be a celebration of all that Christ is doing at
Eastmont and will include elements of worship through music, reports from our pastors, discussion about
upcoming events and emphases, and a time for the church family to reconnect and be reminded about who we
are and where we are going as the faith family known as Eastmont. And what meeting would be complete
without a meal that accompanies it? So after our ministry celebration, we will join together for a meal and
spend some time getting to know and reconnecting with one another.
We’re looking forward to great days of Christ exalting ministry together!

How can Eastmont celebrate Mother’s Day? This Sunday we will celebrate by

GOODWYN supporting First Choice Women’s Medical Center through Project Life Change.
First choice is a Christian ministry that is on the frontlines of the battle for life as

ENCOURAGER they seek to reach the women and men who are facing unplanned pregnancies,
helping and affirming them to make decisions for LIFE.

CARDS We are inviting our church body to take home one of the baby bottles provided in
the worship center lobby or the connecting hall. Fill these bottles up with loose
change, bills or checks, and all the money we raise will go to support First Choice.
DUE BY Bottles can be returned to the place where you pick up your bottle at any time, but

WEDNESDAY, Project Life Change will conclude on Father’s Day (June 18). You also have the
option to give online using the QR code above or through Eastmont’s Giving

May 17th platform.

Please include a $10 gift card

SUNDAY
SCHEDULE
BUILDING LOCK UP
In June and July, Eastmont will adjust our Sunday schedule, moving to one unified
MAY 14
worship service. We understand you’re excited for warm weather, no school,
Allen Deal & Eric Hill
swimming pools and more. For many, summer vacations, family reunions, and all
May 21 sorts of events and activities affect your normal weekly routines. During summer
Dallas Vick & Steve Ragsdale months, attendance has a tendency to fluctuate week-to-week. We want to be
proactive to ensure our time together in worship is honoring to Christ and
nourishing to our souls.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT In June and July, LifeGroups will begin at 9:00am with Worship at 10:15am. This
FELLOWSHIP MEAL selection of start times calls for compromise for all our Eastmont family. Those
who usually attend our early service can arrive a little later than usual, and those
MAY 17 who attend our LifeGroups and later service can arrive a little earlier than the
Hamburgers, Mac & Cheese, and normal. By combining for worship, we will be able to sit near different people,
French Fries possibly on different pews. We will enjoy a worship experience with the room filled
with voices of all ages singing praises to Christ, our King. Thank you for your
MAY 24
flexibility as Eastmont continues to honor the LORD through our worship of His Son
Poppyseed Chicken, Rice, Green
and our love for one another.
