4. SUMMARY
Purpose of this document is to describe how 3+3+0 and 3+0+0 configurations can be
utilized by using single FRGP / FRIE RF modules in RU20 EP1 SW level.
This Technical Support (TSN) Note applies only to 3+3+0 and 3+0+0 configurations build
by using only one FRGP / FRIE modules.
Workaround solution described in this TSN does not require any additional actions in RNC
or OSS.
Correction for this will be implemented in two phases: WN6.0 MP4 and final correction in
WN7.0. These two phases are described more accurately in the end of the document.
5. HW / SW REQUIREMENTS
SW REQUIREMENTS:
RU20 EP1
HW REQUIREMENTS:
FSMD/E
FRGP
FRIE
With WN6.0 MP3.x SW in 3+0+0 or 3+3+0 BTS configurations a faulty antenna mapping
was selected and due to that not all cells went onto air because not all TX and RX
resources in the RF were activated.
When using 3+3+0 or 3+0+0 A- or F-type configurations with one FRGP / FRIE RF module
and RU20 EP1 SW level, following workaround solution must be applied
Site must be configured first as 3+3+3 configuration
Only needed amount of cells are activated from RNC ( 3+3+0 or 3+0+0 )
Two optical fibers are needed between System and RF module
Two Local Cell Groups are needed to configure
36CE are reserved for common channels in second LCG
NOTE !
7. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS
WN6.0 MP4 correction for the problem is that the antenna mapping selection logic is
changed so that when there is 3 cells from one/two or three branch in use the correct
antenna mapping is always selected in configurations 3+0+0, 3+3+0 and 3+3+3.
Phase 2: WN7.0
Final correction will be implemented RAN2162: RP3 Dynamic Allocation. RAN2162
enables to commission both 3+3+0 and 3+0+0 configuration normally without the
workaround solution described above.
After RAN2162 feature implementation only one optical fiber is needed when using 3+3+0
or 3+0+0 configurations.
