Basic elements of weaving.:- Design , Drafting and Peg plan.

Minimum shafts required for satin weave:- 5

2-3 uses of crepe fabric.:- Apparel, home decor and Costumes
Surface property of honeycomb woven structure:- very rough
Structure base of denim fabric:-
What is the importance of high and low reed count?
The number of warp threads per inch in a woven fabric is referred to as the reed count.
High Reed Count: A high reed count indicates that there are more warp threads per inch. As a result, the cloth is
finer, denser, and has a smoother surface. High reed count fabrics typically offer a rich look and feel. They are
frequently used for fine clothing, exquisite linens, and fragile materials.

A low reed count suggests that there are fewer warp threads per inch. As a result, the cloth seems more open and
textured. Low reed count fabrics are more breathable and offer a more informal or rustic appearance. They are
frequently used for draperies, upholstery, and durable clothes.
Mention few fabrics names which are constructed by plain weave:-
 Cotton muslin
 Linen
 Calico
 Chambray
 Organza
 Gingham
 Percale
 Taffeta
 Poplin
 Canvas

Why we use pointed draft in diamond weave structure?

In diamond weave structure, pointed draft is employed to generate a diagonal or diamond pattern in the cloth. The
warp threads are organised in a way that allows for the interlacement of weft threads in a certain manner, resulting
in the woven fabric's unique diamond-shaped design.
What is different between satin and sateen?
 Weave: Satin is a weaving technique where the weft yarns pass over several warp yarns, creating a smooth,
lustrous surface, while sateen is a weave with a similar appearance to satin but is created with fewer warp yarns
than the weft yarns.
 Texture: Satin has a smooth and glossy surface, while sateen has a softer and more matte surface.
 Durability: Satin is less durable than sateen as it has longer floats that are prone to snagging and wear, whereas
sateen is a stronger and more durable fabric.
 Drapability: Satin has a fluid and lightweight drape, while sateen has a heavier and more structured drape.
 Cost: Satin is typically more expensive than sateen due to its silk origins and complex weaving process, whereas
sateen can be made from cotton or synthetic fibers, making it more affordable.

In which condition design is equal to peg plan?

When the woven fabric replicates the pattern defined by the peg plan, the design is said to be equal to the peg plan.
Minimum shaft required for irregular rib weave:-irregular rib weaves typically require a minimum of three shafts.
Mention two rules for making satin/sateen weave:-
 Minimum shaft needed is 5
 Satin is warp dominating whereas Sateen is weft dominating
Define twill weave and draw different types of twill
Twill weaving is distinguished by a diagonal pattern created by the interlacing of warp and weft threads. It is made by
passing the weft thread over one or more warp threads and then under another set of warp threads, resulting in a
distinct diagonal line effect.
Rib weave and types of rib weave:-
Rib weave is a textile weaving technique characterized by the formation of raised ridges or ribs in the fabric. It is
achieved by using additional yarns, called rib yarns, to create areas of extra thickness in the fabric.
Types:- Warp rib and Weft rib
Define herring bone weave in 8/8 graph and mention some application of same structure fabric.
Herringbone weave is a zigzag pattern created by interlacing warp and weft threads in a repeating V-shaped pattern.
In an 8/8 graph representation, the warp and weft threads alternate in a diagonal pattern, resembling a series of
interconnected V shapes.
Uses:- Apparels, Home furnishing, Accessories etc.

Define 4 factors which have influence on prominence of weave
 Thicker yarns will emphasise the weaving, while finer yarns will provide a more subtle impression.
 Weave Density: A tighter weave will highlight the design, while a looser weave will hide it.
 Colour Contrast: A strong colour contrast between warp and weft threads highlights the weave, whereas a low
contrast obscures it.
 Finishing techniques: Finishing techniques like as brushing or sanding can highlight the weave, while smoothing
or pressing might hide it.
What are the basic weaves and their importance

The basic weaves refer to the fundamental weaving structures used in textile production. Here are four common basic weaves
and their importance:

Plain Weave: Plain weave is the simplest and most common weave, where the weft thread alternates over and under each warp
thread. It is strong, durable, and provides a balanced appearance to the fabric. Plain weave is versatile and forms the foundation
for many other complex weaves.

Twill Weave: Twill weave is characterized by a diagonal pattern formed by the interlacing of warp and weft threads. It offers
excellent durability, drape, and resistance to wrinkles. Twill weaves create textured fabrics and are commonly used in denim,
chino, and tweed.

Satin Weave: Satin weave features long floats on the fabric surface, creating a smooth and lustrous appearance. It is known for
its luxurious look and feel. Satin weaves are used in high-end apparel, bedding, and formal textiles where a rich and glossy
appearance is desired.

Basket Weave: Basket weave consists of multiple weft threads weaving over and under multiple warp threads in a group,
creating a checkerboard-like pattern. It produces a robust and breathable fabric with a distinctive texture. Basket weave is
commonly used in upholstery, home decor, and casual clothing.

The importance of these basic weaves lies in their versatility, as they form the building blocks for countless woven fabrics. They
provide different textures, strengths, and visual effects, allowing for a wide range of fabric applications in fashion, interior
design, and various industries.

Warp rib and weft rib:-
Weft rib weave
 Weft rib produces ribs or cords in the warp direction.
 In general, the yarn of weft rib is better than warp.
 Id the number of picks is more than the number of ends in a unit space, then yarn of same count may be used.
Two or more warp yarns pass through a weft yarn.
 Two heald shafts are used.
 Weft rib is used for producing blankets and hair cords, etc.
Warp Rib Weave
 Warp rib can produce ribs or cords in the weft direction.
 The quality of warp yarn is higher than weft yarn.
 The number of ends is higher than picks in a unit space. Then, yarn having same count may be used.
 Two or more weft yarns pass over or under a warp.
 Weft yarns are low twisted yarn.
 The design uses two heald shafts.
 Mercerized yarns are used.
 Warp rib is mainly used in warp faced construction, such as Poplin fabric.
