A Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Nursery

Content Focus: Shapes

I. Objectives: At the end of forty-five minute period, the students should be


able to;
a) identify the four different type of shapes;
b) draw the different shapes; and
c) associate and enjoy with group in doing the activities.

II. Subject Matter


a) Topic: Shapes
b) Reference: Kim, C. (2017). Hand in Hand Starter (Student Book)(CD1

c) Materials: Instructional Materials, Laptop, and Pictures

III. Procedure
a) Opening Prayer:
i. The teacher models out the prayer and instruct pupils to follow
after her.
1. Angel of God
my guardian dear,
to whom God’s love commits me here.
Ever this day be at my side
to light and guard to rule and guide. Amen
b) Greetings
c) Energizer
d) Attendance
e) Classroom Rules:
i. The teacher states the following rules;
1. Always listen.
2. Behave well.
3. Speak politely.
4. Raise your hand if you need something.
ii. A reward is given after the lecture to the pupils who follows the
stated rules.

f) Review
i. The teacher asks the pupils of their previous lesson.
1. What was your lesson yesterday?
2. What have you learned about it?

g) Motivation
i. The teacher will tell a story about the “House of Shapes” by
Janessa Gonzalez
House of Shapes
Once upon a time, there was a girl named Aya.
Aya wants to build a house, but with a twist!
Aya saw a square, after Aya saw a square; she got an idea to use it to build her
house and for her door.
Afterwards, Aya walks down the stream and saw a triangle.
She then got an idea! Aya wanted the triangle to be the roof of her house.
As she glance at her house with square and triangle, she thinks for a minute what
was lacking!
While Aya was thinking, her eyes twinkled as she spotted the circle.
As she saw the circle, she imagined it to be her window. For the finishing touch she
then uses a Star—her favorite shape as a rag in front of her door.
With Square, Triangle, Circle, and Star, Aya built her dream house.
Aya is now happy because her house is completely done.

story time.

IV. Lesson Proper


a) Discussion
i. There are four (4) different types of Shapes; Square, Triangle,
Circle, and Star.

ii. Square has 4 sides with same lines.


Triangle has 3 sides with same lines.
Circle has 1 long round line.
Star has 5 pointy same lines.

V. Application
a) The teacher facilitates the game called: Think and Build Me!
b) The teacher will group the class into 4.
c) The teacher will read the rubrics and explain the instructions.
