    A vacuum flask uses vacuum insulation to minimize heat transfer between its contents and the external environment. It has a double wall structure with an evacuated space in between made of glass or metal to prevent heat transfer by conduction. The inner wall, outer wall and lid are made of good heat conducting materials to prevent heat transfer by convection and evaporation. The walls of glass are polished to reflect thermal radiation back into the hot liquid and the outer wall case is painted to absorb radiation and maintain a constant temperature inside.
