GALILEO GALILEI

"CURIOSITY IS THE KEY TO PROBLEM SOLVING."

Galileo Galilei (GAL-il-AY-oh GAL-il-AY-ee) (born February 15, 1564,

Pisa [Italy]—died January 8, 1642, Arcetri, near Florence) an Italian
natural philosopher, astronomer and mathematician. Well known for the
creation of the Galilean telescope, hydrostatic balance, thermometer and
the compass, also the founding father of modern scientific methodology.
This methodology allowed Galileo to improve the telescope, pave the
way for theories of motion in regards to inertia, the falling of bodies and
helped future physicists, such as Isaac Newton, to make great discoveries
as they:

Observed naturally occurring events which needed to be investigated. Came up with a Hypothesis that
gave a possible explanation based on that observation. Using quantifiable data in their objective
generalizations to Test these generalizations thoroughly before coming to a solid Conclusion based on
the facts of the hypothesis based on the experimentation. Those conclusions are often expressed through
equations, For example, Galileo showed that an object fell through a distance(s) in a time (t) according
1
to the equation 𝑠 = 𝑘𝑡 2 where k is a constant.
