THE DESERT ISLAND MENU

FOOD IDEAS ASSIGNMENT 3

THE DESERT ISLAND MENU
The desert island menu consists of (3) three of my
favorite meals and drinks.

The menu consists of three courses also known as a 'full

course meal: an appetizer, main dish/entrée, and dessert.
THE APPITIZER
To start the full course dinner, the appetizer is:

Lobster Bisque with Truffle Cream.

THE ENTREE
The second dish, also known as the main course
is:
Pan-Seared Chilean Sea Bass with Lemon
Beurre Blanc and Caviar.
THE DESSERT
The last part of the meal is desert, the desert is:
Rich Chocolate Cremeux Cake
Appetizer
Champagne: Moet & THE DRINK MENU
Chandon Brut Imperial
One of the most important parts of the meal for
me, are the drinks. I have always believed that
pairing drinks is a vital part of a dining
experience. Choosing the right drink can fully
Entrée enhance an experience, and the overall taste of
White Wine: Santa the food.
Margherita Pinot Grigio

Drink pairing is significantly important in certain

cultures, and can add a cultural experience to a
meal.

Dessert
Red Wine: J.Lohr Seven Oaks For example in Japanese culture, Sake is often
Cabernet Sauvignon paired with sushi.
My Materialism: Infrastructure

An individuals infrastructure can impact and influence ones food choices. The
economy, cost and availability of food can all impact types of food you eat and
ingredients you cook with. Lobster is considered to be a 'luxury' food item in
Canada. However, Canada has a vast landscape and climate which can also impact
ones food accessibility and preferences.
For Example: Individuals who live in the Maritimes have a much larger access to
seafood compared to those who live in the Prairies.
My Materialism: Structure
An individuals social and political structure can impact ones
food choices.

In Canada, we live in a multicultural country which has led to

a very diverse food culture. Canada is also known to be a very
wealthy country, we have a lot of accessibility to access high-
quality ingredients and are able to import a lot of exotic
foods. Having a good income can greatly increase your
accessibility to 'luxury' food items that many may not be able
to afford.

All of these elements can influence an individual's food

culture and society.
My Materialism: Superstructure

An individuals superstructure is influenced by

ones cultural and personal values, beliefs, and
traditions.

Although I may not have a lot of accessibility

to high-quality seafood, my own personal
dietary restrictions based from my personal
beliefs reflect on what I eat and my food
preferences.
In Conclusion:
As individuals it is important to realize how
many factors can influence your daily life and
food preferences.

By understanding the relationship between food

consumption and cultural materialism, we can
gain insights into our food choices and how they
are shaped by the larger factors such as; the
economy, social and political structures of our
society, and our own values and beliefs shaped
by relationships.
