What is Parametric Analysis?

• Examines how changes in one or more input parameters affect the

behavior or performance of a system or process (output parameter)
• Study the relationships between input and output variables in a
mathematical model or simulation
• Engineers and scientists use parametric analysis to optimize the design of
systems, products, and processes
• Systematically varying the values of input parameters and observing the
resulting changes in output variables → identify the most effective and
efficient design configurations
• Examples of parametric analysis
• how changes in wing shape and engine power affect aircraft
performance
• how changes in temperature and pressure affect chemical production
processes
Creating Input Parameters
Create “New input parameter” for each boundary condition
Create “New input parameter” for each boundary condition

Name of the input parameter

Initial value

Check “Use as Input Parameter”

The value that is assigned to the boundary
We can also pose restriction by using Expression
will be based on this expression
Creating Output Parameters
Name the new expression
Example:
area average of
temperature at the
outlet

Right click on the new expression and click:

Use as Workbench Output Parameter
Now you should see this line in
the Workbench Project tab
